Zach Day is a college student from Bangor, Pennsylvania. Day started competing at the age of 19, taking advantage of the new age limit.
It was tragically revealed that Day's father, Brian, passed away from a heart attack at age 53. His run in the Philadelphia city finals took place on the same day as Brian Day's funeral. The back of his shirt reads "4BD", likely short for "For Brian Day".
American Ninja Warrior 10[]
Zach competed in Philadelphia in American Ninja Warrior 10, where he was one of many to fail the Lightning Bolts. He placed 14th overall and became one of four competitors in Philadelphia to advance to the city finals at under 21 years of age (taking advantage of the new age limit).
In the city finals, he passed the Lightning Bolts, but ran out of steam on the Captain's Wheel. He placed 9th overall and was able to advance to the national finals.
His run on Stage One was digested, but it was shown that he finished with 4.91 seconds remaining. His run on Stage Two was put in the corner to watch during a commercial break, where he ended up falling while transitioning to the fourth wingnut on Wingnut Alley. He ended up being one of the top rookies of the year along with Mathis Owhadi and R.J. Roman. Out of all of them, Day also went the farthest out of any competitor under the new age limit (19 and 20 years old, respectively), making it to the fifth obstacle of Stage Two at just 19 years of age.
American Ninja Warrior 11[]
Zach Day returned to complete in Baltimore in American Ninja Warrior 11. His qualifying run was cut, but it was revealed that he failed the fourth obstacle, the Hazard Cones. Luckily his pace to the obstacle was just good enough to make the top 30 as he placed 30th overall.
During the city finals, his run was once again cut, but he failed the Angry Birds. He didn't make the top 13, as he placed 17th overall, so after a top rookie performance last season, his season was over before he made it to Vegas.
