Vertical Rope (バーティカルロープ) was an obstacle used in first two VIKING tournaments, located at Final VIKING. However, due to the dominance of the Second Adventure Stage in VIKING 1, it wasn't attempted until VIKING 2.
It was a simple 10-metre rope put vertically in parallel to the tower, however, it was tied together with Horizon Rope, making the rope swing less wildly compared to SASUKE's Tsuna Nobori. However, the obstacle's difficulty was still augmented due to the intense stamina demanded to clear Horizon Rope, as competitors would be very tired by the time they reached the obstacle to begin with. Should a competitor timed out, the rope would be cut, thus dropping the competitor down the tower.
There was only one attempt on this obstacle by Nagano Makoto. He started strong at first, even having about 50 seconds to clear it, however, about three metres away from the button, his strength began to wane and he slowed down significantly, until he was barely climbing at all. He eventually failed it and the obstacle became the only attempted VIKING obstacle that did not have a clear due to the format of Final VIKING changing in the following tournament.
