Vance Yarter is the father of David Yarter. He and his son are the first father-and-son duo to advance to the city finals together, doing so in Houston in season 7.
American Ninja Warrior 7[]
He competed in American Ninja Warrior 7 where he failed on the Swinging Spikes but his time there was fast enough to make the top 30 placing in 24th he even placed higher than his son who placed 29th. In the city finals, he failed on the Swinging Spikes again and did not move on.
American Ninja Warrior 8[]
He competed in American Ninja Warrior 8 in Oklahoma City with his son. His run was cut, but after asking his son David, it was learned that Yarter failed the Ring Swing.
