Intro[]
The second VIKING tournament, official name: 海筋肉王 "バイキング" スペシャル: 全世界最強王決定戦 (Umi Kin'niku-ō VIKING SP: Zen Sekai Saikyō-ō Kettei-sen, literally Sea Muscle King "VIKING" Special: World's Strongest King Championship), was the second VIKING tournament that took place in 2005 and aired on April 4, 2005. There were Preliminary Trials held before this tournament, at the headquarters of Fuji TV, which included a one-minute push-ups competition that won by Akiyama Kazuhiko, who did 137 push-ups, 17 push-ups more than his Quick Muscle's rival, Yamada Katsumi.
First Marine Stage had no changes beside reducing the time limit by 10 seconds. This, combined with the number of competitors increased to 100 (like how normally it is on SASUKE) made the results better than the previous tournament, as 10 people cleared the stage. As the weather was better, Brain Ship Stage was held, which eliminate Yamaguchi Kōsuke and Ishikawa Terukazu.
Due to the difficulty on the previous tournament, Second Adventure Stage was toned down by making Galleon lighter (reducing 10 kg in weight), thus no one failed it. However, the dreaded Rope Maze that ended the tournament in VIKING 1 is still as deadly as it took out half of the competitors that attempting it. Two people, TERU and Nagano Makoto, cleared the timed portion of the stage, but Heartbreaker left only Nagano to take on Third Fantasy Stage, which he easily cleared after electing to attempt Ultimate Plank, earning ¥500,000. From there, Nagano Makoto was given choice to proceed to attempt Bio Clock or to give up. If given up, ¥500,000 remain intact and his run in the tournament ended. However, if he proceed, if he failed, the prize will be reduced to ¥100,000 and tournament end. If he succeeded, the prize will be increased to ¥1,000,000 and he will advance to Final VIKING. Without a doubt, Nagano chose to attempt the obstacle and cleared it with 9.78 seconds on the clock, well within the margin of error and allowed entry to Final VIKING.
In the only tower-shaped Final VIKING, Nagano put everything he got, but eventually running out of the gas and timed out about 50 cm from the goal, once again leaving Kanzenseiha out of the reach.

Differences with International Rebroadcasts[]
In the International rebroadcasts of VIKING 2 (excluding JET broadcast), the course and structure was changed significantly. Brain Ship Stage was fully cut, Heartbreaker was considered to be part of Third Fantasy Stage, and both Steady Voyager and Bio Clock were never mentioned at all. In addition, it was stated that VIKING was two events of 50, with a Final that combined people that went the furthest from the first two tournaments.
