ANW11 Up for Grabs

American Ninja Warrior 11's Up for Grabs in Atalnta

Up for Grabs is an obstacle, firstly introduced as the eighth obstacle during Atlanta finals on American Ninja Warrior 11.

The concept of this obstacle was incredibly similar to the Bar Hop, where competitors must hop a bar onto the rested cradle. However, the bars for the Up for Grabs were incredibly unstable and would fall out at the slightest touch, meaning rather than transitioning and then hopping the bar, competitors had to build enough momentum to make a laché from the stationary bar, grab the movable bar along the way, and land it onto the cradle. The bars were held up by magnets embedded on the pole which was attached to the scaffolding.

The obstacle was proven to be difficult, as it took out notable competitors such as Travis Rosen, Casey Suchocki, Roo Yori, Lucas Gomes, Devin Harrelson, Ronald Washington, Caleb Bergstrom, Travis Rust, Josiah Singleton, and Rochambeau Dolcine. A total of 11 competitors fell on this obstacle during Atlanta finals.

Due to the zero knockout rate, it was replaced by Chop It Up on the next season.

Ninja Warrior Germany: Four Nations Special 3's Up for Grabs (Sprungstange 3.0)

Although the obstacle was not used in any regular seasons of Ninja Warrior Germany, the Up for Grabs, locally called Sprungstange 3.0 (literally Jumping Bar 3.0) first appeared in the Ninja Warrior Germany: Four Nations Special 3 as the third obstacle in the Third Stage. This time, the obstacle feature an additional third laché bar, which was placed after the second cradle. Also, since the obstacle was not preceded by any obstacle with no rest, competitors must jump directly from the trampoline to grab the first laché.

The obstacle proved to be the Ninja-Killer, as it eliminated four out of the nine competitors who attempted it, with the cause being the incredibly unstable bars of the Up for Grabs, as they would fall out at the slightest touch. This occurred during the runs of R.J. Roman, Jay Lewis and Lukas Kilian, with the first moveable bar falling out during their runs, which resulted in them having to make a far laché from the first stationary bar to the second stationary bar, which all of above-mentioned participants successfully managed to do.

Ninja Warrior France 7's Up for Grabs

On Ninja Warrior France 7, Up for Grabs (Les Crochets à Bascule, literally Toggle Hooks) appeared as the sixth obstacle of Stage One. A rope was placed both at the start and the end of the obstacle.

This obstacle ended up being the most lethal obstacle in Stage One, taking out 12 of the 21 competitors who attempted it, including Iliann Cherif in both his original run and his second run. Everyone who failed this obstacle would then move on to the Repechage.

Ninja Israel[]

Ninja Israel All-Stars 2's Up for Grabs

Like Ninja Warrior Germany, although the obstacle was not used in any regular seasons of Ninja Israel, the Up for Grabs later debuted as the fifth obstacle in the Team Competition and Head to Head Competition of Ninja Warrior Israel: All-Stars 2. However, since the obstacle was not preceded by any obstacle with no rest, there was a rope at the start of the obstacle, as a medium to reach the first laché.

Just like American Ninja Warrior 11 and Ninja Warrior Germany: Four Nations Special 3, the obstacle was very brutal, as most competitors' bars fall out at the slightest touch.

Trivia[]

  • The obstacle is named after a phrase of the same name, meaning something that is obtainable, often in reference to a prize.
