The Swing Mast (スイングマスト, but preferred in VIKING as スヴィングマスト) is a VIKING obstacle originally introduced as the seventh obstacle in the First Marine Stage in the first two VIKING tournaments. With the addition of Alphabet Parley and Island Escape, it was pushed to be the eighth obstacle in VIKING 3, albeit maintaining its status as the penultimate obstacle, like the Tarzan Rope from SASUKE. However, it would once again relocate in VIKING 4, this time as the second obstacle in Third Fantasy Stage.

The obstacle consisted of a rope with a weight on the end of it which competitors had to launch towards a horizontal pole above them. The launch had to be perfect enough to wrap the weight around the pole enough to support competitors as they swung to a mat below.

If the weight wasn't wrapped around tight enough when the competitor swung, the rope would detach from the pole causing the competitor to come up short of the mat and fall into the water, which happened to many people who were rushing to chase the time. If the launch wasn't powerful enough to reach the pole, the competitor had to drag the rope back to the start wasting time and later timing out along with preparing the launch.

For its appearance in VIKING 4's Third Fantasy Stage, two sets of the obstacle were provided for competitors due to that tournament's head-to-head pair format. In addition, the mat was replaced by a solid pathway.
