Welcome to Standard Editing Procedure - Sasukepedia 101. Here, we're going to introduce the standard editing practices for the various types of article pages here on Sasukepedia. We won't go into great detail, but we will go over the basics for competitor pages, competition pages, and obstacle pages. In addition, we will introduce some of our custom templates, that we use here on Sasukepedia.

Intro to Sasukepedia

Sasukepedia is a wiki dedicated to cataloging Monster9's sports entertainment shows (with a focus, on SASUKE); covering the entire SASUKE series of shows, as well as it's spin-off and related shows; KUNOICHI, Viking: The Ultimate Obstacle Course, Pro Sportsman No. 1, and other various sports entertainment shows.

So why Sasukepedia? Well for one, the name Sasukepedia is a portmanteau of Sasuke and pedia (from Wikipedia). In addition, Sasukepedia is a flexible, user-editable web-based database of information made up entirely of user contributions, and uses MediaWiki software. Because of this, if you are going through articles looking for information, and you see something that is incorrect, you can correct it. If you see any information that is missing, you can add it. This way, the information here should be as up to date as possible, instead of having to wait for a small group of people to update the information as the world changes. The more people that use Sasukepedia, the more up-to-date the information will be.

Because of the direction that Sasukepedia has taken, being a source of information for Monster9's shows, we are very specialized in what we contain on the wiki. Our articles are exclusive to the shows we catalog, and because of this, our articles come only in a few distinct types of articles as opposed to Wikipedia's thousands of article types.

Sasukepedia's article types

Since we focus on specialized sports entertainment shows here on Sasukepedia, we need to document the details of the shows in a matter that presents the show from all angles. What makes up the entirety of SASUKE? The competition, for one. But also the competitors, and obstacles. Another core part of these shows are the announcers, who dictate the action going on in the competition. Now, if you look at other shows that we document here, you can see their similarity with SASUKE and how we can use the same article types with the other shows. KUNOICHI, the female only version of SASUKE, follows the exact same format and utilizes the same core features of SASUKE; competition, competitors, obstacles, announcers. Even the once yearly Sportsman series utilized the same format, the only difference being that instead of obstacles, there were events in which competitors would face off against each other. Events however, can be easily adapted into a format similar to that of obstacles, considering that obstacles are a series of events that a competitor must pass in order to clear a stage on SASUKE or KUNOICHI.

Competitions

The meat of Sasukepedia. The competition pages are key for article editors and readers alike. They can be the one stop shop for all the information regarding a specific broadcast, or they can be the hub that links users to competitors and obstacles. So we have our information regarding the compeition, ranging from the date of filming, to the date of broadcast; as well as a list of all 100 competitors and how they fared in the competition. Now what? Well, now we need to be able to accurately present the information in a way that readers and editors alike can draw clear and concise information from it. If we take all of our notes and information and just threw it in there, it would be a mess. We need to go into detail and format it in a well organized way. This way, we will be able to present it and utilize it as an authority on information regarding the competitions.

Competitors & Announcers

The potatoes of Sasukepedia. The competitions wouldn't exactly be entertaining if there weren't any competitors to attempt the course. Because of the give and take relationship of competitors to the competition, they are one with each other and nothing without the other. With that in mind, it is these little details that require us to take on another responsibility in editing this wiki. The competition pages are wonderful in their great amount of detail for what had transpired that day. However, there is even more detailed information about each individual competitor that we are missing that may or may not have contributed to his or her success or failure on certain obstacles during certain competitions. In addition, there may be some more backstory and history as to how the competitor may have become involved with competing in the show to begin with. Some competitors have become so frequent, that they now have fans that consider them a favorite, or even have been given nicknames by the producers/broadcasters, such as the SASUKE All-Stars or the Shin Sedai.

Announcers of the competition are just as important to the competition as the competitors themselves. Most of the time, it is their job to narrate the play by play of the competition, speaking upon the successes and failures of competitors as they attempt each obstacle and what may or may not occur in their runs. There have been a wide range of announcers across the various shows, some of which have announced numerous competitions and/or shows. With that in mind, it is only right to offer the same light to the announcers as we do to the competitors, especially in the wake of Itō Ryūsuke, who is an announcer that has also been a competitor.

Obstacles

The gravy of Sasukepedia. Obstacles are what make the competitions, without them the competitions would not exist. SASUKE and other various shows are based around the idea that humans will be put to the test in physical and mental challenges that will test their strength, agility, endurance, mind, and sheer willpower. Without these challenges, there wouldn't be much of a point to creating a competition in the first place. With these things in mind, there have been a wide array of obstacles and events that have put competitors to the test, some of which have become staples in the fabric of the competition, such as the Soritatsu Kabe in SASUKE, Domino Hill in KUNOICHI, and the Monster Box event in Sportsman. While the competition and competitor pages may tell us the basics of how well a competitor may have done that day, they do not include any details regarding the design and function of the obstacle. Some obstacles or events may have also had slight alterations over the years, but still maintain that general design philosophy and are in essence the same obstacle; obstacles such as this would be the Cliffhanger in SASUKE.

Results

Results bring it all together. Without it, the spacetime continuum of Sasukepedia would tear and the world would implode from the resulting black hole caused by a lack of results tables in the article. A bit dramatic I know, but it gets the point across quite well, wouldn't you agree? Moving on. Results are essential to virtually every article on Sasukepedia, an exception being the general overview articles, as well as articles relating to broadcast and production companies. Results tables are made to catalog the who, what, when, where, and why a competitor did what they did in the competition; whether that be moving onto the next stage, or failing at the 3rd obstacle of the first stage. These tables , like the articles themselves, have different types depending on the type of article needing a results table. You're not exactly going to want to put the results table of KUNOICHI 4's stage one into Nagano Makoto's page when for one, he isn't one or a hundred of the one hundred competitors to compete in KUNOICHI 4, let alone the fact that he has never competed in KUNOICHI to begin with. The same thing could be said for competitor results tables and obstacle tables as well. There's really no point in putting the results for the Beach Flags event into the competition article for SASUKE 17, when it's a Sportsman event with no relation to SASUKE.
