The Stalactites is an obstacle, introduced as the second obstacle in Stage Three on American Ninja Warrior 13, replacing the Iron Summit from its past recent appearance.
The obstacle featured seven small free hanging panels with holes on one side and a pair of handles similarly used to the Circuit Board and Keylock Hang. The panels are arranged at different heights and distances.
Competitors must first unhook the handles both placed on the first panel and navigate to the rest of the panels in order to advance. Since the panels are free hanging, it has the tendency to spin once competitors miss the panel, slowly sapping competitor's grip strength.
In all of its appearances, no competitor failed the obstacle.
Other Appearances[]
Ninja Warrior Germany[]
First Version[]
In Ninja Warrior Germany 7, the Stalactites, literally translated Tropfsteine, appeared as the fourth obstacle in the Third Stage. Due to the lack of space that Ninja Warrior Germany has compared to American Ninja Warrior, there were only four panels present, each with a different placement. Also, the obstacle was succeeded directly by the Inverter with no rest and just a laché bar. Just like in American Ninja Warrior 13 & 14, no competitor failed the obstacle.
Second Version[]
Then, in Ninja Warrior Germany 8, the Stalactites appeared as the fifth and penultimate obstacle in the Third Stage. This time, the obstacle was preceded directly by the Peg Cloud, with no rest/waiting/laché bar between these obstacles. However due to the different setup/layout used for the stage in which the obstacle was present, there were now six panels present. But just as the Stalactites obstacle used in Ninja Warrior Germany 7, this obstacle did not eliminate any of the contestants (four in total) who attempted it, nor did it prove to be a great endurance/strength drainer.
Ninja Warrior France[]
In Ninja Warrior France 7, the Stalactites, literally translated Les Stalactites, appeared as the eighth and penultimate obstacle in the Untimed portion of the Second Stage. Just like in American Ninja Warrior, there were seven panels present (including the starting panel), each with a different placement. Also, the obstacle was a standalone obstacle just as in American Ninja Warrior as no competitor failed the obstacle.
Trivia[]
- The obstacle is named after the term of the same name, indicating a tapering structure hanging from the roof of a cave, resembling an icicle.
- Stalactites was one of the obstacles that won the American Ninja Warrior: Obstacle Design Challenge, designed by Christian Youst.
