Sports Danshi Grand Prix (究極の男は誰だ!?最強スポーツ男子頂上決戦) abbreviated as SpoDan (スポダン) is a reboot version of the former Sportsman with the format typically integrated from Celebrity Sportsman No. 1 albeit there are exception from some tournaments and there are:
- Sports Danshi Grand Prix 10 were similar to the Amateur Sportsman No. 1 and
- Sports Danshi Grand Prix 12 and Sports Danshi Grand Prix 13 were similar to the Pro Sportsman No. 1
Premiered in 2012 on TBS after Monster9's bankruptcy in November 2011. The show is broadcasts from the Pia Arena MM (formerly Makuhari Messe Convention Hall and Tokyo Ariake Arena) with some of past Sportsman events are integrated to this reboot show, most notably Monster Box, Shot-Gun Touch, Power Force and Beach Flags.
The first nine tournaments and the eleventh tournament had a similar format to Celebrity Sportsman No. 1, various celebrities would compete in a series of events to gain points. As the events progress, the competitors who would gain the least amount of points would be eliminated from the competition. This elimination would continue until the final event where the top competitors would be left.
While the tenth tournament, also known as Sports Grand Prix Top Athletes (究極の男は誰だ!?最強アスリート元日決戦) has a similar format to Amateur Sportsman No. 1, where various competitors from Sportsman, SpoDan and several international athletes from various sports would compete in a series of events where the winners of each SpoDan event would be awarded and no pointing system would be made.
Since the twelve tournament, the show changed to Pro Sportsman No. 1 format, in which various celebrities would compete in a series of events to gain points and the competitors who would gain the least amount of points were no longer be eliminated from the competition.
The eleventh tournament of that show is actually 50th anniversary tournament of the original Sportsman No. 1 milestone with 4 veteran champions from Sportsman and SpoDan have unite together.
