Screwdriver (スクリュードライバー) is an obstacle introduced in SASUKE 42 as the third obstacle of the First Stage, replacing the Silk Slider. This obstacle may be considered as a hybrid of the Butterfly Wall, Half-Pipe Attack and a notable Sportsman event, Shot-Gun Touch. It may borrow the concept from two KUNOICHI obstacles, the Shamenso and Hishouchu.

The rotation mechanism of the pendulum.

The obstacle consists of a sideways "T"-shaped pendulum situated away from the starting platform. Competitors must press a buzzer at the start of the obstacle to trigger the mechanism of the pendulum that rotates counterclockwise (similar to the mechanism used on Hishouchu and The High Road), dash across an angled platform and grab it before it gets too far away, in order to cross safely to the other side. The pendulum also lowers as it spins, for safer dismounting and the speed that the pendulum rotates is slower for women competitors.

In its debut, the obstacle took out eight competitors and a majority of them were women competitors.

KUNOICHI Appearance[]

As part of the reboot, the Screwdriver (スクリュードライバー) made an appearance introduced in KUNOICHI 12's First Stage as the second obstacle, replacing the Pipe Hold and Shaking Bridge. Compared to SASUKE, the angled platform was removed where it was slightly easier as out of forty-seven attempts, only four were eliminated.
