SASUKE Vietnam 5 (also known as SASUKE Vietnam 2019 or SASUKE Vietnam's 5th Anniversary) is the third tournament after Lê Văn Thực, David Campbell and Nguyen Phuoc Huynh's kanzenseiha and as the fifth season of SASUKE Vietnam since the first season held back in 2015.
Thành Trung returned as the host for his fourth consecutive season. Hoàng Yến Chibi replaced Minh Xù as the sideline reporter. Also, some celebrities appeared as the co-hosts in some episodes.
The show will be broadcast at 8:30 p.m. every Monday on VTV3, starting from July 22, 2019. For the first time ever, the auditions would be broadcast as the season premiere.
Keeping from SASUKE Vietnam 4, female competitors were not given any time limit to complete Stage One and Two.
It was revealed on Facebook that Lê Văn Thực - the SASUKE Vietnam 2's winner didn't compete on this season to have time for his family, his works and his friends and himself.
Auditions
The audition is held in four different cites at four different regions in brackets:
- Hanoi (Northern region) from 9th March to 10th March, 2019.
- Da Nang (Central region) from 16th March to 17th March, 2019.
- Gia Lai (Central Highlands) from 23rd March to 24th March, 2019.
- Ho Chi Minh City (Southern region) from 30th March to 31st March, 2019.
Similar to four previous seasons, the auditions have 4 challenges. The maximum score for each challenge is 10 points. The time limit for the first 3 challenge is 1 minute.
① Pull-up (40 times)
If a competitor cannot do at least 5 pull-ups, he will be eliminated immediately.
② Push-up (60 times)
If a competitor cannot do at least 7 push-ups, he will be eliminated immediately.
③ 60-kg tire flipping (40 times)
If a competitor cannot flip the tire at least 5 times, he will be eliminated immediately.
④ 100m running in 20.4 seconds
Competitors need to run 25m, then turn around and run 25m again - and so on, until he finishes 100m. The time limit for this challenge is 29 seconds.
This season, 126 competitors will compete in the national finals, of which 37 are foreign nationals, and like the previous season, they do not need to participate in the qualifiers.
Additionally, with the introduction of Mr & Miss Sasuke Online, Hồ Sỹ Thông and Đào Đình Mạnh, 2 winners of 2018's tournament, automatically advanced to the national finals without having to participate in the qualifiers.
Filmings
The show was filmed from May 4, 2019 (5th Anniversary Gala) to May 15, 2019, at Becamex Tokyu Garden City. However, due to the broadcasting of the audition on the first episode, it was flimed at Hanoi, Da Nang, Gia Lai, and Ho Chi Minh City.
Prizes
The competitor having the fastest time on Final Stage/ Mt. Midoriyama will get VND 800.000.000 and will be crowned the champion of the season as well.
Just like on the previous seasons, at the end of each episode, the most impressive run (called Run of the Night) would be awarded by a medal and:
- VND 4.000.000 cash prize on Stage 1A and Stage 1B
- VND 8.000.000 cash prize on Stage 2
- VND 14.000.000 cash prize on Stage 3
Also, some special prize (including Miss SASUKE, Most Beautiful Ninja Cosplay) from the previous season was kept from SASUKE Vietnam 4.
Stage One
Stage One is a split-stage. The first two obstacles are the same, but the producer will decide which competitors run the right-handed course (Stage 1A part) or the left-handed course (Stage 1B part).
