SASUKE 27, official name: SASUKE2011秋 (literally SASUKE 2011 Fall), is the third tournament after Urushihara Yuuji's kanzenseiha in SASUKE 24. Early rumors after SASUKE 26 stated that SASUKE 27 would be held in March 2011 and would be the final SASUKE tournament, as a casualty of TBS' cutbacks. However, TBS denied the rumor and eventually released a statement inviting participants to a trial tournament in June 2011, with the competition being taped in July.

Three trials were held before the taping. Another edition of the SASUKE Trials were held, but details were sparse. American Ninja Warrior returned for its third season, which once again culminated in fifteen competitors invited to a four-day boot camp to compete for ten spots in SASUKE (however, this would be the last American Ninja Warrior season to hold qualifiers for SASUKE, before changing its competition format on the next season). For the first time, Malaysia held a trial for SASUKE. There were two stages: a First Stage replica and a Final Stage replica based on the second version. Five competitors cleared the First Stage, and the competitor who climbed the fourteen meters Final Stage in the fastest time would be invited to this SASUKE tournament.

However, 27 competitors cleared the First Stage, the most since SASUKE 4 and the third most clears of all-time by date. The time limit of the First Stage was also arguably quite lenient, with 18 out of 27 competitors finished with over 10 seconds left. 9 American competitors cleared the First Stage, which was also a record. David Campbell set the new First Stage time record with 44.32 seconds left (along with his nephew Travis Furlanic, at 43.90 seconds left), and Nagano Makoto finished the First Stage for the first time since SASUKE 23.

No changes were made into the Second Stage from the previous tournament, except the time limit was reduced from 95 seconds to 90 seconds. Kanno Hitoshi withdrew after a shoulder injury on the Slider Drop, while several competitors failed at the Double Salmon Ladder and Metal Spin. Ishikawa Terukazu finished the stage with a mere 0.06 seconds, beating Hasegawa Ken and James Okada's records of 0.1 seconds in SASUKE 1 and SASUKE 7. The field thinned from 27 to 10.

Kanno Hitoshi withdrew after a shoulder injury on the Slider Drop, And injured it again in SASUKE 32, while several competitors failed at the Double Salmon Ladder and Metal Spin. Ishikawa Terukazu finished the stage with a mere 0.06 seconds, beating Hasegawa Ken and James Okada's records of 0.1 seconds in SASUKE 1 and SASUKE 7 respectively. The field thinned from 27 to 10.

The Third Stage was heavily tweaked. The Ultimate Cliffhanger was moved to the third obstacle, and the Flying Bar was moved to the second obstacle, with just 3 cradles instead of 5. The Arm Bike and a tweaked version of the Pipe Slider (named the Bar Glider) returned. New obstacles such as the Chain See-Saw and Jumping Ring appeared. Ishikawa Terukazu and Okuyama Yoshiyuki failed at the Flying Bar. David Campbell, Paul Kasemir, Nagano Makoto, Ryan Stratis, and James McGrath failed at the Ultimate Cliffhanger, and Hashimoto Kouji (who became the first competitor ever to complete the Ultimate Cliffhanger) failed at the Chain See-Saw. Unlimited Cliffer's Urushihara Yuuji and Matachi Ryo cleared the Third Stage, with Urushihara for the third time and Matachi for the first time.

In the new Final Stage, the obstacle consisted of 20 meters Tsuna Nobori, making it the first time since SASUKE 4, that the Final Stage's obstacle only consisted of one obstacle. Matachi Ryo failed several feet away from the top, but Urushihara Yuuji achieved his second kanzenseiha with 6.71 seconds left, the fastest kanzenseiha time in SASUKE history.

Intro

SASUKE 27, official name: SASUKE2011秋 (literally SASUKE 2011 Fall), is the third tournament after Urushihara Yuuji's kanzenseiha in SASUKE 24. Early rumors after SASUKE 26 stated that SASUKE 27 would be held in March 2011 and would be the final SASUKE tournament, as a casualty of TBS' cutbacks. However, TBS denied the rumor and eventually released a statement inviting participants to a trial tournament in June 2011, with the competition being taped in July.

Three trials were held before the taping. Another edition of SASUKE Trials were held, but details were sparse.

The results in this tournament were vastly better than the previous tournament. However, several familiar faces were eliminated in the First Stage. Interesting defeats occurred such as:

In the new Final Stage, the obstacle consisted of 20-meter Tsuna Nobori, making it the first time since SASUKE 4, that the Final Stage's obstacle only consisted of one obstacle. Matachi Ryo failed several feet away from the top, but Urushihara Yuuji achieved his second kanzenseiha with 6.71 seconds left, the fastest kanzenseiha time in SASUKE history. He was seen crying after reaching the top of the tower
