Intro
The 14th Competition, official name: SASUKE2005謹賀新年 (literally SASUKE 2005 Happy New Year) is the first tournament held during winter. In the First Stage, two new obstacles were added (the Ensuitobi and Butterfly Wall), and the First Stage time limit was increased by 23 seconds to 103 seconds, the first time a First Stage time limit exceeded 100 seconds. This was proven to be very lenient, as two competitors (Takeda Toshihiro and Nagano Makoto) cleared with 30 seconds left, and another three competitors (Yamamoto Shingo, Ishikawa Terukazu, and Yamaguchi Kosuke) cleared with more than 20 seconds left. In this tournament, Shiratori Bunpei officially became the sixth member of the SASUKE All-Stars. In the end, 14 competitors cleared the First Stage.
In the Second Stage, the Metal Spin replaced the Gyakusō Conveyor from the previous tournament, and the time limit was reduced to 67 seconds. Despite only 4 competitors failed in this stage, there were notable failures like Paul Hamm (who completed the stage in time, but forgot to hit the button) and Shiratori Bunpei (who lost his balance at the end of the Balance Tank, resulting his head was hit by the tank). In the end, 10 competitors cleared the Second Stage, doubled from the previous tournament.
In the Third Stage, three new obstacles were added between the Cliffhanger and the Pipe Slider (the Jumping Bars, Climbing Bars, and Devil Balanço), making the number of obstacles in the Third Stage increased from 5 to 8 (which would stand until SASUKE 24). The combination of those three obstacles was proven to be extremely difficult for competitors, as no one made it to the Final Stage for the first time since SASUKE 10. For the first time ever, no one reached the final obstacle of the Third Stage.
