Intro[]
The eleventh tournament, official name: SASUKE2003春 (literally SASUKE 2003 Spring), is the seventh tournament since Akiyama Kazuhiko's Kanzenseiha. Preliminary Trials were held in Taiiku Ookoku in form of a Monkey Bars event, which mark the first time in which SASUKE Trials were held to send people to compete. The top three from the event got a chance to compete in this tournament, most notably was second place finisher, Kobayashi Shinji.
First Stage featured one new obstacle, Balance Bridge, which only eliminated six competitors. Rolling Maruta was modified in this tournament, which resulted in it being particularly ruthless in this tournament, eliminating over 40 competitors including ten straight competitors from #4 to #13. #95-100 all cleared First Stage, the first time it happened in SASUKE. Also, in this tournament, all six SASUKE All-Stars (five at the time and future SASUKE All-Star Shiratori Bunpei) cleared First Stage together for the first time in history. The results of the First Stage were greatly better than in SASUKE 10, with more than double the First Stage clears between the two tournaments. It was also the first time since Akiyama Kazuhiko's Kanzenseiha that there were double digit clears. After waiting 3.5 years since his Kanzenseiha, Akiyama finally beat the First Stage, clearing with only 0.03 seconds left (despite had to undergo a surgery on his knee on November 2002). He would eventually make it all the way to the Third Stage, before failing at Body Prop.
Despite only the time limit that was being modified in Second Stage (five seconds less than the previous tournament), four competitors fail this stage, three more than the previous tournament. The most notable defeat was Yamada Katsumi's failure, where his fear towards Balance Tank proven to be true after he fail it in a unique way.
Third Stage also cause problem for competitors, as every obstacle save for Rumbling Dice all claimed at least one victim, despite none of these obstacles were new. However, for the first time since Third Stage's redesign in SASUKE 9, the stage was cleared, this time by Nagano Makoto, which would mark his first of his three consecutive Final Stage attempts. Nagano started off strong on Spider Climb, however, his transition to Tsuna Nobori was not smooth, which made him timed out about 2.5 metres away from the goal, ending the tournament.
