Odyssey (オデッセイ) was the first obstacle in the First Marine Stage, appearing in all four individual VIKING tournaments.
The obstacle was a giant compass, 5.4 metres in diameter with a round base, meaning the compass could tilt to one side if a competitor was too slow or too heavy. In order to keep from staying tilted on one side prior to competitors running, ropes were attached on the bottom of the compass platform to keep the obstacle stable.
This obstacle was relatively easy, although many failures came from staying on one side for too long, or botching the landing because the side facing the other platform was either raised too high or too low which misguided competitors to dismount.
In VIKING 4, due to the format of the tournament in which it used Time Trial, a failure would not ended the run of the competitors. They simply just had to climb out of the pool and proceed to the next obstacle.
