Number 100 (or #100) is a starting position given to competitors anticipated to have the highest chance of achieving Kanzenseiha during a tournament. While the numbering system has never been completely based on raw skill, it has usually gone to competitors who are either the current Grand Champion, or were among the best competitors in previous tournaments, with some exceptions due to special circumstances or the reputation of the competitor.

SASUKE

In SASUKE, despite the skill level of the competitors who have been given the honour, no competitors have ever achieved Kanzenseiha while having been designated #100.  The closest has been Nagano Makoto, timing out at the Final Stage by 0.11 seconds during SASUKE 12.

In the 10th, 20th and 30th anniversary competitions, the numbering was listed in the 1000s; as such, #100 was listed as #1000, #2000 and #3000 respectively.

In SASUKE 18, due to Nagano Makoto's Kanzenseiha, a special 1200m race was held with the winner getting to choose their number first. Kato Masafumi won the race, but would choose #77 instead, allowing Kume Ryouta to pick #100.

Yamada Katsumi was given #100 due to his vow of retirement should he fail to clear the First Stage during SASUKE 17. Although he failed to clear the stage, he would return for SASUKE 18 and numerous tournaments afterward. Nagano Makoto was given #100 during SASUKE 28 due to the anticipated retirement of the SASUKE All-Stars although multiple All-Stars would return for following tournaments. However, in SASUKE 32, he was given #100 one final time due to his own self-imposed retirement.

Number 100 in SASUKE has been worn fifteen times by Nagano Makoto, seven times by Yamada Katsumi, four times by Morimoto Yūsuke, three times by Akiyama Kazuhiko, twice by Urushihara Yuuji, and once by four others: Kawashima Hiroshi, Omori Akira, Kume Ryouta, and Matachi Ryo.

Number 100 in SASUKE has failed the Final Stage five times, the Third Stage eight times, the Second Stage seven times, and the First Stage fifteen times.

KUNOICHI

KUNOICHI has had more success at the position, as during Miyake Ayako's three-tournament Kanzenseiha streak, she was designated #100 in the fifth and sixth tournaments. Mizuno Yūko is the closest near-miss, missing Kanzenseiha by 0.12 seconds in KUNOICHI 3

In KUNOICHI 8, the change of format to a race in groups of four in the First Stage means the numbering system for that tournament is unknown, although the group involving Tanaka Maho was the last group shown in the stage during the broadcast.

For the reboot, the number of overall competitors has been reduced to 50 instead of the typical 100.  No one has achieved Kanzenseiha while wearing #50 during the reboot.

Number 100 in KUNOICHI has achieved Kanzenseiha twice, failed the Final Stage once, the Third Stage (Black Stage in the reboot) once, the Second Stage twice and the First Stage (Red Stage in the reboot) four times. Number 50 in the reboot has failed the Red Stage twice, and the Black Stage once. Number 50 has never failed the Blue Stage and never attempted the Final Stage.
