Ninja Warrior Germany 9 (officially known as Ninja Warrior Germany - Die stärkste Show Deutschlands 2024) was the ninth season of the regular International SASUKE/Ninja Warrior format in Germany, and also the third season since the Total Victories of Moritz Hans and René Casselly in Ninja Warrior Germany 6. The show was recorded from April 13th to April 27th, 2024 and it was recorded in the MMC Studio (Coloneum) in Cologne Germany, making it the fifth straight season to have been recorded there. And due to the fact that the COVID-19-pandemic did not pose a problem at the time of the recordings anymore, the different episodes were recorded with an actual audience again. The premiere episode of the season will be aired on October 18th, 2024 at RTL. The hosts of this season, just as of the other seasons, were Frank Buschmann & Jan Köppen and the sideline reporter of this season was Laura Wontorra.
This time, a currently unknown amount of competitors were at the start of the season, and were first evenly spread across six different Preliminary Round episodes. After that, the best competitors of the six Preliminary Rounds were spread across two Semi-finals episodes (with one half being present in one Semi-finals episode) and the final competitors were then spread across two Finals episodes which will be aired on December 13th and December 20th, 2024.
The Castings[]
The casting phase of the ninth season of Ninja Warrior Germany officially commenced in November 2023, and ended on December 31st, 2023. One major requirement was that the applicant must be at least 16 years old. However, applicants who are minors require the consent of their parents or a legal guardian. In addition, applicants must also include information on their fitness level and sporting backgrounds. Finally, a short description on why the applicant wants to participate in the season was needed.
After the casting phase concluded and competitors received the call, some notable competitors were revealed to not had gotten the call at all for this season and had gotten a rejection to their application this season. These names include Arleen Schüßler & Benedikt Sigmund, Astrid Sibon, Frank Schmidpeter, and most shockingly, both Oliver Edelmann (marking the first time he would not participate in a regular season of the show, thus losing his perfect attendance record) and his wife Stefanie Edelmann. These decisions were controversial by several fans of the show, and received considerable backlash from the Ninja Warrior Germany community.
The Recordings[]
The recordings for this ninth regular season were carried out in April, circa two months earlier than the usual recordings of the more recent seasons (Ninja Warrior Germany 7 & 8). The exact reasons for that are (so far) unknown. However it is known that the actual broadcasts will not fall on an earlier month than usual, and that the episodes are going to be regularly aired in autumn of 2024.
The Qualifications[]
This time, the Preliminary Rounds were run over in six episodes in total. There were about 40 competitors in each of the Preliminary Rounds and the Top 13 competitors in each of the Preliminary Rounds (the 13 competitiors placed in the leaderboard shown at end of the Preliminary Round), i.e. either 13 finishers (in case of exactly 13) or the 13 furthest fastest* (in case of zero finishers), would definitely advance to the Semi-finals. And just as in the few previous seasons, there was the additional special regulation that would make it easier for women to qualify for the Finals. This rule stated that if no female was ranked in the final regular Top 13 ranking, the Top 2 females outside of this Top 13 still got to advance to the Semi-finals. If only one female was ranked in the regular Top 13, then the special rule only applied to the next best female outside the Top 13. And if at least two females were ranked in the final Top 13, this special rule would no longer apply. In addition, the Preliminary Round compeititors could once again try the 5.50-meter-high Mega Wall.
Note*: In case of more than 13 finishers, only the 13 best finishers would advance, and in case of less than 13 but more than zero finishers, the furthest fastest along with the other finishers would advance.
The Top 4 participants of each Preliminary Round would once again compete on the Super Salmon Ladder, locally called Endlose Himmelsleiter (literally Endless Ladder to Heaven in German), at the end of their respective Preliminary Round episode. Here, the Super Salmon Ladder participants would go one after the other, following the classic Ninja Warrior Germany All-Stars rules. The competitor who either completed the obstacle in the best time (in case of two or more finishers), or made it the highest in the best time (if two or multiple best competitors failed the exact same rung transition) would not only receive a cash prize of 5,000 €, but would also receive the Speed Pass (mcalled Speed Pass by the producers of Ninja Warrior Germany), meaning that the competitor would automatically advance to the Finals of the season.
Meanwhile, the 2nd, 3rd and the 4th place of this Super Salmon Ladder would receive the following cash prizes:
- The 2nd place would receive a cash prize of 2,500 €,
- The 3rd place would receive a cash prize of 1,000 €,
- And the 4th place would receive a cash prize of 500 €.
The New Additions[]
New Gimmicks[]
Split Decision[]
While there would be no new post-Preliminary Round gimmick introduced in this season (as the Super Salmon Ladder remained unchanged from Season 8), there would be a new gimmick during all the Preliminary Rounds, namely the Split Decision; a specific position on a course on which two different obstacles are set up directly next to each other and the participants have to choose one of them. This would make Ninja Warrior Germany the fourth ever International SASUKE/Ninja Warrior show to have included the Split Decision in a regular season of their show.
Modified Walls[]
In addition to the above mentioned Split Decision, the usual final obstacle of each Preliminary Round, the Warped Wall/Mega Wall got notably modified, as both the Warped Wall & Mega Wall would now have a shorter run-up and consist of curved run-ups to increase the difficulties majorly (similar to the Warped Wall during Challenge Stage in SASUKE Ninja Warrior Indonesia 2). This would be the first ever instance in which a Mega Wall had a curved run-up in the history of regular International SASUKE/Ninja Warrior shows. Since it would be majorly more difficult to clear the Mega Wall now, participants who would manage to clear the Mega Wall on their one and only try would receive a 5,000 € cash prize instead of the 2,000 € as before. Apart from that, they would also secure their spot for the Semi-finals, which means that they would advance even if they did not finish in the Top 13 of their Preliminary Round.
New Obstacles[]
Just as in the previous season, there were many "new obstacles" in this season, i.e. obstacles which have never been used in any of the previous regular seasons of Ninja Warrior Germany, but were used in American Ninja Warrior before. The new obstacles used in the Preliminary Rounds of this season were the following:
- Ring the Bells (Glockenspiel) - used in Preliminary Rounds 1-3.
- The Cubes (Zauber-Würfel) - used in Preliminary Rounds 1 & 4.
- Box Office (Bungee-Boxen) - used in Preliminary Round 3.
- Greased Lightning (Blitz-Rutsche) - used in Preliminary Rounds 5 & 6.
- Kaleidoscope (Kaleidoskop) - used in Preliminary Rounds 5 & 6.
- Rope Maze (Seil-Labyinth), used as the second portion of Swing Arm + Rope Maze (Schwungarm mit Seil-Labyrinth) - used in all Preliminary Rounds.

The Semi-finals[]
The Semi-finals were run over in two episodes in total. This time, there were about 40 competitors in each of the Semi-finals episodes and only the Top 30 competitors of both Semi-finals episodes (the 30 competitiors placed in the leaderboard shown at end of the second Semi-finals episode), i.e. either 30 finishers (in case of exactly 30) or the 30 furthest fastest* (in case of zero finishers), would advance to the Finals of the season along with the six Super Salmon Ladder winners and the two females outside of the Top 30, if necessary, which means that a maximum of 38 athletes could possibly qualify for the Finals.
The six Super Salmon Ladder winners of each Preliminary Round would also have a chance to attempt the Semi-finals course but it wouldn't affect the official leaderboard, since they are already automatically qualified for the Finals.
In addition, there would once again be the Speed Reward cash prizes. This means that the Top competitor of the Semi-finals (this would also apply to the case in which a Speed Pass winner was placed on this podium) would receive a cash prize of 10,000 €, the second best competitor would receive a 5,000 € cash prize and the third best competitor would receive a 2,500€ cash prize.
Just as in Ninja Warrior Germany 8, there was the additional special regulation that would make it easier for women to qualify for the Finals. This rule stated that if no female was ranked in the final regular Top 30 ranking (the leaderboard shown at end of the second Semi-finals episode), the Top 2 females outside of this Top 30 still got to advance to the Finals. If only one female was ranked in the regular Top 30, then the special rule only applied to the next best female outside the Top 30. And if at least two females were ranked in the final Top 30, this special rule would no longer apply.
Note*: In case of more than 30 finishers, only the 30 best finishers would advance, and in case of less than 30 but more than zero finishers, the furthest fastest along with the other finishers would advance.
Recording Date (Semi-finals 1): April 22nd, 2024.
Original Airdate: November 22nd, 2024.
Recording Date (Semi-finals 2): April 23rd, 2024.
Original Airdate: November 29th, 2024.

The Finals[]
The Finals was run over in two episodes in total. Here, the 36-38 (depending on whether at least two women were in the Top 30 of the seasons Semi-finals and the special rule for the Top 2 females outside the Top 30 of the Semi-finals did not apply at all, or whether one or no females were in the Top 30 of the Semi-finals and the special rule for the best or the Top 2 females outside the Top 30 applied) remaining participants would battle against four Stages, in order to become the second winner of Ninja Warrior Germany and of a 300,000 € cash prize + the title "2. Ninja Warrior Germany". Once again, if none of the remaining male participants would manage to achieve the sole Total Victory / win the show or if a female competitor would manage to win the show, the male participant who then either made it the furthest, or the furthest in the best time (in case of two or more competitors failing at the exact same point), the Last Man Standing, would receive the aforementioned title plus a 25,000 € cash prize. In addition to that, the Last Woman Standing of the season, i.e. the best female athlete of the entire season who would not manage to win the show, would also receive a 25,000 € cash prize.
