Ninja Warrior Germany 7 (officially known as Ninja Warrior Germany - Die stärkste Show Deutschlands 2022) was the ninth season of the regular International SASUKE/Ninja Warrior format in Germany, and also the first season since the Total Victories of Moritz Hans and René Casselly in Ninja Warrior Germany 6. The show got recorded in 2022 and it was recorded in the MMC Studio (Coloneum) in Cologne Germany, making it the third straight regular season to have been recorded there. Unlike the last two seasons however, which were recorded without an audience (since the safety issues brought by the COVID-19-pandemic at that proved to be too critical), the different episodes of this season were recorded an actual audience again, as the COVID-19-pandemic did not pose a problem at that time of the recordings anymore. The premiere episode of the season was aired on September 30th, 2022 at RTL. The hosts of this season, just as of the other seasons, were Frank Buschmann & Jan Köppen and the sideline reporter of this season was Laura Wontorra.
This time, 300 competitors were at the start of the season, and were first evenly spread across five different Preliminary Round episodes (with about 50 of them being in one Preliminary Round). After that, the best competitors of the five Preliminary Rounds would be spread across two Semi-finals episodes (with one half being present in one Semi-finals episode) and the final competitors would then be spread across two Finals episodes which were aired on November 11th and November 18th, 2022.
Because of Moritz Hans and René Casselly's total victories on the previous season, just like in SASUKE (when the course was significantly altered to increase the difficulty in the tournament after the achieved kanzenseiha in the previous tournament), the course on this season was also significantly altered to increase the difficulty, with the most notables were the new 32m Final Stage tower with three obstacles: Chimney Climb, Salmon Ladder and Rope Climb. This making Ninja Warrior Germany was the second international SASUKE/Ninja Warrior show (after Australian Ninja Warrior) that the Final Stage was modified after the achieved total victory in the previous tournament.
The Castings[]
The casting phase for this seventh season of Ninja Warrior Germany officially commenced on October of 2021. A major new addition here was the lowering of the age limit for competitors, which was reduced to 16 years. However, applicants who are minors require the consent of their parents or a legal guardian. In addition to general data, the application must also include information about the level of fitness and sporting background. A short text explaining why the participant is applying to participate in “Ninja Warrior Germany” was also relevant.
Due to the above mentioned lowering of the age limit, this season saw the arrival of many talented and promising new youngsters who had only made a name for themselves in Ninja competitions outside of the show. And while many veteran names who had left a major mark in the past few seasons returned, many different notable of the previous season did not compete. These names included Max Prinz, Giovanni Ertl, Benjamin Grams, Max Sprenger and (most notably) the three-time in a row Last Man Standing Alexander Wurm.
The Qualifications[]
This time, the Preliminary Rounds were run over in five episodes in total. There were about 50 competitors in each of the Preliminary Rounds and the Top 16 competitors in each of the Preliminary Rounds (the 16 competitiors placed in the leaderboard shown at end of the Preliminary Round), i.e. either 16 finishers (in case of exactly 16) or the 16 furthest fastest* (in case of zero finishers), would advance to the Semi-finals. And just as in the few previous seasons, there was the additional special regulation that would make it easier for women to qualify for the Finals. This rule stated that if no female was ranked in the final regular Top 16 ranking, the Top 3 females outside of this Top 16 still got to advance to the Semi-finals. If only one female was ranked in the regular Top 16, then the special rule only applied to the two next best female outside the Top 16. And if at least three females were ranked in the final Top 16, this special rule would no longer apply. In addition, the Preliminary Round compeititors could once again try the 5.50-meter-high Mega Wall. The participants who would manage to clear the Mega Wall on their one and only try would not only receive a 2,000 € cash prize, but would also secure their spot for the Semi-finals, which means that they would advance even if they did not finish in the Top 16 of their Preliminary Round.
Note*: In case of more than 16 finishers, only the 16 best finishers would advance, and in case of less than 16 but more than zero finishers, the furthest fastest along with the other finishers would advance.
The New Additions[]
New Gimmicks[]
The Duel Course[]
For the first time since the fourth season of Ninja Warrior Germany, there would be no Power Tower at the end of each Preliminary Round episode, instead, the 4 best/fastest participants of each Preliminary Round would compete, head-to-head, on the new Duel Course of the season. In the first match of the Duel Course, the 1st place of each Preliminary Round would compete against the 4th place of each Preliminary Round, and in the second match of the Duel Course, the 2nd place of each Preliminary Round would compete against the 3rd place of each Preliminary Round. Both of the winning competitors of these first two matches would receive a cash prize of 5,000€ and would then compete in a third and final match against each other. The winning competitor of this final match would receive the Speed Pass (mistakenly called Safety Pass by the producers of Ninja Warrior Germany), meaning that the competitor would automatically advance to the Finals of the season.
The Audience Competitors[]
In addition to that particular change, for the first time in Ninja Warrior Germany, two persons from the audience, in total, (One in Preliminary Round 4 and one in Preliminary Round 5) would be given the chance to attempt to complete an obstacle of the Preliminary Round course (They can decide for themselves which obstacle they would like to attempt), in order to not only receive a cash prize of 1,000€, but also to receive a wildcard for Ninja Warrior Germany 8, meaning that they could participate as actual competitors in that future season.
New Obstacles[]
In addition to all of changes stated above, there were many new obstacles, which have never been used in the previous seasons of Ninja Warrior Germany, but have been used in American Ninja Warrior before (Except for the Swing Arm, which has been created by the production team of Ninja Warrior Germany), in the Preliminary Rounds of this season. The new obstacles of the Preliminary Rounds were the following:
- Wall to Wall (Wandsprung)
- Overpass (Überfahrt)
- The Overpass served as the second part of the third obstacle in it's Preliminary Rounds, with the first part being the Floating Steps, which were installed in a curved pattern, and basically served as a bridge to reach the Overpass.
- Swing Arm (Schwungarm)
- V Formation (V-Formation)
- Double Down (Doppelter Wellenschlitten)
- The Double Down served as the second part of the third obstacle in it's Preliminary Rounds, with the first part being the Floating Steps, which were installed in a curved pattern, and basically served as a bridge to reach the Double Down.
- Eyeglass Alley (Brillen-Weg)

4th | Leonie Haas | 6. V Formation (03:57.84) |
Failed to hold onto the second laché bar. Due to a debatable decision on Stefanie Edelmann's run, the referees decided that Leonie Haas, fourth-placed in the leaderboard of the female athletes, would also qualify for the Semi-finals. |

The Semi-finals[]
The Semi-finals were run over in 2 episodes. Out of the 86 participating competitors, the 35 best/fastest competitors of the two Semi-finals episodes would advance to the Finals of the season. The five Duel Course winners of each Preliminary Round would also have a chance to attempt the Semi-finals course but it wouldn't affect the leaderboard, since they are already automatically qualified for the Finals. Also, for the second season in a row, there would be the Speed Reward cash prizes, which means that the top competitor in the Semi-finals who either reached the furthest in the best time, or completed the course the fastest would receive a cash prize of 10,000€, the second furthest/fastest competitor would receive a 5,000€ cash prize and third furthest/fastest competitor would receive a 2,500€ cash prize.
