Ninja Warrior Germany (officially known as Ninja Warrior Germany - Die stärkste Show Deutschlands) was the first season of the regular International SASUKE/Ninja Warrior format in Germany. The show was recorded from May 19th to May 24th in dm-arena - Messe Karlsruhe. The premiere episode of this season was aired on July 9th, 2016 at RTL. The hosts of this first season were the sports journalist Frank Buschmann and the television host Jan Köppen and the sideline reporter of this season was the television host Laura Wontorra.
Out of the over 7,000 applicants who applied to participate in this first season, 240 competitors were at the start of the season, and were first spread across four different Preliminary Round episodes (with about 60 of them being in one Preliminary Round). After that, the best competitors of the four Preliminary Rounds would be spread across four Finals Qualifications (with 20 being in one Finals Qualification) and the final 28 competitors would then be spread across one Finals episodes which were aired on July 30th, 2016.
The Castings[]
The Castings for this first season of Ninja Warrior Germany got carried out from January to March of 2016 in the German cities Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart and Cologne. The three major requirements that the applicants had to meet, in order to get selected to participate in the actual season, were an age of at least 18 years, or higher, a great amount of overall athleticism, which would be tested across three different stations with different exercises, and also an interesting personality. Out of the over 7000 applicants, only 240 best applicants would get selected to participate in the actual season.
The Qualifications[]
The Preliminary Rounds were run over in four episodes in total. There were about 60 competitors in each of the Preliminary Rounds and the Top 20 competitors in each of the Preliminary Rounds (the 20 competitiors placed in the leaderboard shown at end of the Preliminary Round), i.e. either 20 finishers (in case of exactly 20) or the 20 furthest fastest* (in case of zero finishers), would advance to the Finals Qualification right after.
Note*: In case of more than 20 finishers, only the 20 best clears would advance, and in case of less than 20 but more than zero finishers, the furthest fastest along with the other finishers would advance..
The Finals Qualifications were run over in the same four episodes in which the Preliminary Rounds are shown, with one Finals Qualification taking place right after the Preliminary Round it represents. There were 20 competitors in each of the Preliminary Rounds and the Top 7 competitors in each of the Finals Qualification (the 7 competitiors placed in the leaderboard shown at end of the Finals Qualification), i.e. either 7 finishers (in case of exactly 7) or the 7 furthest fastest* (in case of zero finishers), would advance to the Finals Qualification right after.
Note 2*: In case of more than 7 finishers, only the 7 best clears would advance, and in case of less than 7 but more than zero finishers, the furthest fastest along with the other finishers would advance..

The Finals[]
The Finals was run over in one episode in total. Here, the 28 remaining participants would battle against four Stages, in order to become the first winner of Ninja Warrior Germany and of a 100,000 € cash prize + the title "1. Ninja Warrior Germany". If none of the remaining male participants would manage to achieve the sole Total Victory / win the show, the male participant who then either made it the furthest, or the furthest in the best time (in case of two or more competitors failing at the exact same point), would be awarded the title Last Man Standing.
