Mike Wright is a diving coach at the University of Tennessee. He is from Maryville, Tennessee, and is nicknamed The Speedo Ninja.
American Ninja Warrior 7[]
He made his American Ninja Warrior debut in Orlando. His run in qualifying was digested, but he failed the Tire Swing, and didn't make the top 30.
American Ninja Warrior 10[]
He returned 3 years later to compete in Indianapolis. In qualifying, he failed the Spin Hopper but placed 24th overall at the end of the night.
During the city finals, he was the first runner of the night. He breezed through the first eight obstacles, even making an incredible one-handed save on The Clacker, but failed the new Cane Lane. He placed 11th overall and moved on to the national finals.
His run on Stage 1 was digested, but it was shown that he failed the Jumping Spider. He tried to use an unorthodox approach of jumping directly into the chute without a run-up, but it backfired.
American Ninja Warrior 11[]
He competed for his third season in Cincinnati. His qualifying run was digested, but he once again went out on the fifth obstacle, failing the Slingshot. However, he placed 21st and moved on to the city finals for the second straight year.
He later failed the same obstacle in the city finals. He placed 20th overall, so he didn’t have a shot at competing in the national finals.
American Ninja Warrior 12[]
Returning for ANW 12, the Speedo Ninja tackled the course with success. He competed in the first episode of qualifiers along with Grant McCartney and Kamerion Wimbley. This time, he cleared the course for the first time in his career. At the end of qualifying, he placed 6th with a time of 3:45.41 and moved on to the semifinals, despite failing to scale the Mega Wall during his run.
There, he failed the Corkscrew and didn't move on to the finals.
American Ninja Warrior 13[]
Mike competed in the fourth round of qualifying. His run was cut in qualifiers, but he failed the fifth obstacle, Pretzel Twist. He placed 17th overall and advanced to the semifinals.
In the semifinals, he competed in the third episode. His run was digested, but he failed Diamond Dash, when he tripped on the second diamond and dived face-first into the water. He once again failed to move on to the national finals.
American Ninja Warrior: Family Championship[]
Mike, alongside his sister Nikkilette and cousin Roman, competed in the first Family Championship. The first round ended with only 3 points gained, as Mike cleared his two obstacles and Roman cleared one of his. Yet in the second round, Mike also cleared his two obstacles, alongside Nikkilette clearing one of hers, totalling 6 points, not good enough for the Power Tower playoffs.
