American Ninja Warrior 10[]
Matthew first competed in Dallas in American Ninja Warrior 10. His run was digested in Qualifying but it was shown the he attempted the Mega Wall but failed to scale it, he did however manage to scale the 14'6' wall on his one attempt and he finished the Qualifying course with the 2nd fastest time behind Daniel Gil.
In the city finals, Matthew finished the entire course in 2nd place again and advanced to the national finals. There, he was the first runner of the course. He conquered tough obstacles like the Double Dipper, but rushed and failed the Jumping Spider.
American Ninja Warrior 11[]
He returned in Oklahoma City for American Ninja Warrior 11 where he finished with the 2nd fastest time in qualifying. He raced against Daniel Gil in the Power Tower, but struggled on the ascent and as a result, gave Gil the edge. He ultimately lost against him there.
In the city finals, he was one of the final runners and was a favorite to make it to the Power Tower. Many expected to see him there after a sensational qualifying performance. However, disaster struck on the Coconut Climb, when he transitioned to the second ring and accidentally hopped it over the very last cleat, falling all the way to the bottom of the trunk. He saved it, but when he looked over at the crowd, the ring slipped down lower, and his back touched the water, devastatingly ending his run and eliminating his chances of the Power Tower. His performance placed him 27th overall, and so he not only missed on the Power Tower, but also did not qualify for Las Vegas.
