Wilder first competed in Denver in American Ninja Warrior 6 where he cleared the qualifying course.
In the city finals, Matt notably struggled on the Spikes into Cargo, taking numerous attempts before completing it. He later struggled on the Arm Rings, but completed it. He later failed the Doorknob Arch. but placed 13th and advanced to the national finals,
His run on Stage 1 was digested but it was shown that he failed the Spinning Bridge.

Matt returned to compete in Indianapolis in American Ninja Warrior 8. His run was cut in qualifying but he finished the course placing 16th.
