On Stage Two, his run was digested, but he was shown to have finished with the fastest ever time of 66.56 seconds left, and moved on to Stage Three on just his first season competing. He had the sixth best performance of the season and was also the top rookie of the season.

American Ninja Warrior 15[]

After an amazing rookie performance, Matt was looking to go farther in American Ninja Warrior 15. In the sixth qualifying round, he powered through the first four obstacles, but shockingly failed on Lasso Launch. Luckily it was enough for him to place in the top 12, as he placed 5th overall.

He later competed in the second semifinals episode. He triumphed over Ibrahim Hayek who fell on Beehive, while Matt hit the buzzer, advancing back to the national finals.

On Stage One, his run was digested, but he shockingly failed on the Giant Rollercoaster, ending his second season.

American Ninja Warrior 17[]

After not being chosen to compete in American Ninja Warrior 16, Matt returned for his third season in the sixth and last qualifying episode. His run was digested, but he once again cleared the course, this time doing so with the fourth fastest time.

He later competed in the last semifinals episode, being shown in full for the first time. There he got past The Dungeon, clearing the ninth obstacle for the first time and he later cleared the course as a whole in 6th place, once again advancing to the national finals.

At the national finals, his first race against Luke Lowell-Liszanckie was digested, and he won the race by clearing the course while Luke failed on the Floating Monkey Bars. His second race against Tate Becker was also digested, and also won that race by clearing the course 30 seconds faster than in his previous race while Tate failed on the Salmon Ladder. He then raced against another speedster Josiah Pippel in his third race. They were pretty even until Matt failed on the Salmon Ladder while Josiah cleared the course. Nevertheless, Matt went 2-1 overall, thus he advanced to the knockout round.

At the knockout round, he first raced against ANW 16's runner-up Caleb Bergstrom in the round of 32. The race was pretty back-and-forth, but Matt cleared the course one second before Caleb, thus giving him the win. He than raced against R.J. Roman in the round of 16. There, Matt ended up falling on the Floating Monkey Bars, while R.J. cleared the course, losing the race and ending his season
