Maruta Zaka (丸太坂), called Log Slope in English broadcasts, was a First Stage obstacle in SASUKE 17. Competitors had to cross a log that was 30 cm in diameter and 4 metres-long, which placed at an incline. As competitors walked up the log, it would roll from side to side, almost similar to Burasagari Maruta that appeared in the first two tournaments.
Placed as the second obstacle, Sandan Rolling Maruta was relocated to the third obstacle. However, this obstacle didn't take out many competitors and due to Nagano Makoto's Kanzenseiha in the tournament, it was replaced by Log Grip as part of the course's renewal in the following tournament.
