Intro[]

The 6th KUNOICHI competition (officially「KUNOICHI2006秋」) took place in 2006, the year that Nagano Makoto achieved Kanzenseiha in SASUKE 17. This tournament had 20 nations being represented starting with Japan, USA, Canada, Argentina, Brazil, South Korea, China, Mongolia, Indonesia, Australia, Sri Lanka, Romania, France, Poland, Russia, Cameroon, Nigeria, Egypt, Tunisia and Senegal. in addition, numbers were not given out in this tournament, though bibs of each competitor were shown in the broadcast, it's only known that Tanaka Maho wore #83, and Miyake Ayako wore #100 because she made it to the Final Stage and achieved Kanzenseiha. This was the first tournament after Miyake Ayako's second consecutive kanzenseiha.

In the First Stage, four new obstacles were introduced, the Fuyuu Sou, Sankaku Bashi, Hishouchu, and Rakka Bou and the obstacle count reduced from 9 to 8. However, several of these changes had been made to accommodate the international competitors, and thus, out of the new obstacles, only the Shouchu proved to be a formidable foe. In the end, 11 were able to clear, five competitors more than in KUNOICHI 5, including the youngest woman, Higashi Rena being a teenager, and the oldest woman being Kitagawa Narumi.

In the Second Stage, every obstacle except the Daichoyaku was replaced. The Second Stage was also made into a time trial were only 6 women or less can move on to Stage Three. Of the new obstacles, only the Burandou proved to be a threat, as the other three did not eliminate a single competitor.

In the Third Stage, the Tenbinbashi returned, and the Kenzandou was introduced. The Kenzandou proved to be significantly more difficult than its predecessors, eliminating multiple competitors. Tanaka Maho set the fastest pace on the Tourenban and cleared. Miyake Ayako cleared for a third time.

In the Final Stage, Tanaka Maho was too slow climbing up the Dai Zeppeki, and timed out before the Tenkubou. Miyake Ayako reached the top with 0.66 seconds remaining, achieving an unprecedented third consecutive Kanzenseiha, which is a feat no one in any SASUKE/Ninja Warrior format has achieved since.

This tournament would be a very important one, as Nagano Makoto would achieve kanzenseiha during SASUKE 17, and Sato Hiromichi would make a fastest time on VIKING 4's Final Stage, making 2006 the first and so far only year where a kanzenseiha was achieved in both SASUKE, VIKING and KUNOICHI.
