Intro

The 4th Competition, official name: KUNOICHI2004 冬 (literally KUNOICHI 2004 Winter), is the fourth KUNOICHI tournament. After Mizuno Yuko's near Kanzenseiha in the previous tournament, the first and second stages were both re-designed to be more difficult. Almost every obstacle in the first stage was new or modified. The dreaded Buyoishi returned with a spring loaded stone, which proved to be trouble for many competitors, taking out Mizuno herself. Fuandou had been modified to be much more tricky while the new Haso Tobi took out it's fair share of competitors, including many competitors who cleared the first stage in the previous tournament. In addition, the new time limit took out finalist Hanzawa Tomomi. Despite the early failures of top competitors Haga Kayo and Hanzawa, both of whom timed out, eight women cleared stage one. Five of the eight women who cleared stage one did so with more than ten seconds left on the clock, with Izumi Mika, Komiya Rie, and Miyake Ayako having over twenty seconds left on the clock. The second stage had also been throughly modified, and re-introduced the time consuming Sarentobi from the first two Kunoichi tournaments. Kaiten Tsutsu had also been modified to be much longer and spin much easier than it's KUNOICHI 3 counter-part. While stage two had been modified to take out a good chunk of the field, only two people failed here, including the last of the three finalists from the previous tournament, Izumi Mika. Despite this Yamada Miho and Komiya Rie both cleared with less than a second left on the clock. After the modifications made to the first two stages, the producers left the third stage unchanged. Spare Watanabe Kazue and Asami Sayaka all of the challengers were new to the third stage, and it showed. The Torentta continued to be highly lethal taking out all but one competitor, while Nirenba and Timbinbashi failed to eliminate any challengers. Only one woman cleared stage three in this tournament, Miyake Ayako, with 11.9 seconds and she went on to clear the unchanged final stage with 4.1 seconds left on the clock, achieving the first ever Kunoichi Kanzenseiha.
