Intro[]
KUNOICHI 3, (officially,「KUNOICHI2003秋」), aired on Wednesday September 24, 2003 at 18:55 JST. The tournament was advertised through Taiiku Ookoku, but the show canceled just before airing, the last episode of that show was dedicated to the KUNOICHI 2003 Navi.
Due to poor results during the first two tournaments, the First Stage have received modifications. The Buyoishi was modified by making the spherical tops were much larger than previous version, and new obstacles, the Shouheki Goe, Fuandou, Hasso Tobi, and Shamenso was added, with the time limit being reduced by 5 seconds. However, despite these modifications, it eliminated some of top competitors. But even that did not stop 14 competitors from clearing the First Stage, which is highest record clearing at the time, until KUNOICHI 8.
In the Second Stage, a new obstacles the Chou Touhan and Kaiten Tsutsu was introduced, the time limit is also reduced by 5 seconds.
For the first time ever, the Third Stage was brought into KUNOICHI, with the time limit of 90 seconds. One of new obstacles, the Tourenban took out 6 women, only 3 competitors made to the Final Stage: Izumi Mika, Hanzawa Tomomi, and Mizuno Yuko.
The Final Stage was redesigned into the form of a tower much like in SASUKE, with the time limit at 35 seconds, all came very close to the buzzer with Mizuno Yuko came 0.2 seconds short from achieving Kanzenseiha, the closest loss at this time, ended her run and the tournament. Incidentally, her near-miss of Kanzenseiha in this tournament was aired only a week before Nagano Makoto's near-miss of Kanzenseiha in SASUKE 12.
