Josh Salinas is a Ninja coach from Houston, TX.
American Ninja Warrior[]
American Ninja Warrior 9[]
Salinas first competed in San Antonio in American Ninja Warrior 9, where he finished the qualifying course with the 3rd fastest time behind Thomas Stillings and Daniel Gil. In the city finals, his run was digested, but it was shown that he failed the Hourglass Drop. Josh did place 7th overall and moved on to the national finals. His run on Stage One was also digested, but it was shown that he finished with 56.46 seconds left, the second fastest time of the season, just behind Drew Drechsel. His run on Stage Two was digested as well, but it was shown that he failed Wingnut Alley.
American Ninja Warrior 10[]
Josh Salinas at the Dallas City Finals - American Ninja Warrior 2018
Josh returned to compete in Dallas in American Ninja Warrior 10. In Qualifying, his run was digested but it was shown that he failed to scale the Mega Wall but managed to scale the regular 14'6' wall and finish the course with the 3rd fastest time. Salinas also finished the city finals course in 3rd place, and he advanced to the national finals. His run on Stage One was digested but it was shown that he finished with 22.75 seconds remaining. On Stage Two, he was the first runner of the night, and he failed Wingnut Alley just like during the previous season. On the bright side, he had gotten one Wingnut further than last year, as he failed the transition to the last Wingnut.
American Ninja Warrior 11[]
Josh returned to compete in Oklahoma City in American Ninja Warrior 11. His run in qualifying was digested but it was shown that he once again attempted the Mega Wall, but he failed all 3 attempts, making this the first time that he failed a qualifying course. He still advanced to the city finals, by placing 16th overall in the top 30. His run in city finals was also digested but it was shown that he failed Snap Back. He placed 9th overall and advanced to the national finals. Josh was able to complete Stage One with 32.05 seconds remaining. Josh Salinas got past Stage Two on his third try with a little over a minute remaining, getting the second fastest time right behind Daniel Gil. Josh was having a great season and was the next to last runner on Stage Three (right before Daniel Gil) but surprisingly fell on Grip & Tip when he couldn't hold onto the second cylinder.
American Ninja Warrior 16[]
Josh returned for his fourth season in the seventh round of qualifying in American Ninja Warrior 16 after taking a few seasons off due to the birth of his daughter. His run was digested, but he got through the dangerous fourth obstacle, Duck Duck Goose, but shockingly failed Jawbreakers (being one of three to do so during that round and the first time he touched the water in qualifying), but he still moved onto the semifinals in 5th place.
In the semifinals, Josh raced against Karson Voiles in a digested performance. He was way ahead of Karson throughout the race and secured his spot in the national finals when Karson failed the Spin Hopper.
Josh was shown on Stage One in the National Finals, this time competing with his daughter watching him. Josh had a fast pace on the early part of the course but ended up spending a lot of time on Thread the Needle. He was exhausted and was unable to make the transfer to the cargo net on the obstacle. This was the first time Josh would fail Stage One, ending his season.
Josh has announced on Instagram that while he did receive the call for American Ninja Warrior 17, he has decided to focus on his family and is now semi-retired.
Trivia[]
- Josh was the first competitor to fail the first obstacle of Stage Three (the Grip & Tip) since Idoko Abuh and Casey Finley who did so in American Ninja Warrior 5.
- Josh is one of thirteen to conquer the semifinals course in under a minute in American Ninja Warrior 16.
