Jonathan Godbout is a drummer from Massachusetts. Before he competed on the main show, he was invited to compete on American Ninja Warrior 12, but he had to wait another year.

American Ninja Warrior Junior[]

Jonathan first competed on the inaugural season of American Ninja Warrior Junior in the 13-14 age division. His qualifying runs were shown in Episode 16. In the seeding round, he lost to Evan McNeill, entering the knockout round in the losing seed. But there, he invented the technique of linking the laches of the Flying Shelf Grab, enabling him to win over Aidan Wood and advance to the final showdown. There, he won the rematch again Evan McNeill, advancing to the semifinals.

In the semifinals, he first defeated Jay Lewis to advance to the top 8. Then, he defeated Celena Vanhaezebrouck, advancing to the finals. However, his season ended in the first round of the finals with a loss to Vance Walker. Still, though, he got third place in his age division, winning $5,000.

American Ninja Warrior Junior 2[]

Jonathan returned for American Ninja Warrior Junior 2, once again in the 13-14 age bracket. His qualifying runs were shown in QR EP 1. In the seeding round, he lost to Cal Plohoros, entering the knockout round in the losing seed. But there, he defeated Olivia Kosanovich and advanced to the final showdown. Unfortunately, he lost the race to Cal Plohoros once again. Still, his time was the fastest among the non-finalists, so he still had a chance to make the quarterfinals through the wildcard race.

In QF EP 1, he faced his friend and ANW Jr's 2nd place finisher, Nate Pardo. Shockingly, Nate fell on the Little Dipper, sending Jonathan to the quarterfinals. Unfortunately, in the first round of the quarterfinals, he fell on the Sky Hooks and lost to Carson Edwards, ending his season there.

American Ninja Warrior 13[]

He first competed on American Ninja Warrior in the first qualifying episode as a 16-year-old rookie. Jonathan put up a sensation in his qualifying run, finishing the course and placing fifth overall. He returned in the third semifinals episode where he cleared the course again, this time in 4th place. On Stage One he finished with 8.38 seconds left on the clock. On Stage Two, he went out on Hammer Drop after taking a hard hit on the pendulum, ending his rookie season.

American Ninja Warrior 14[]

Jonathan returned compete in the fourth qualifier episode, having recently graduated from high school. At Split Decision, he was one of the several to choose the Despicaballs and he unexpectedly failed there after tripping on the first ball, ending his season. His fail was one of the most shocking of ANW14.

American Ninja Warrior 15[]

After an unexpected early exit last season, Jonathan returned for the sixth qualifier round. He was one of only three finishers that episode, placing 3rd overall with a time of 1:40.65. In the semifinals, he raced Verdale Benson, and ultimately won the race, as Verdale failed Hopscotch. Jonathan completed the course, advancing to the national finals. His run on Stage One was digested, but he surprisingly failed the Jumping Spider, despite clearing it the last time he was in Vegas.

American Ninja Warrior 17[]

After not being chosen to compete in season 16, he received the call to return for his fourth season in season 17, competing in the second qualifier round. His run was digested, but he once again cleared the course, this time in 7th place.

He later competed in the second semifinals episode. His run there was also digested, but after clearing the first nine obstacles with relative ease, he ended up gassing out on the Invisible Ladder, marking the first time that he failed on a semifinals course. Nevertheless, he still placed 11th overall as the top non-finisher that episode, advancing to the national finals for his third time.

During the national finals, he first raced against Elijah Browning. Elijah had completed the course while Jonathan failed Piston Plunge and lost the race as a result. He then went against Luke Beckstrand, and won the race after Luke shockingly failed the Swinging Frames while Jonathan completed the course. Lastly, he raced against Caitlyn Bergstrom-Wright, and won that race as well, and although his time wasn't fast enough to advance, Jonathan was able to complete the course.
