Horizon Rope (ホライズンロープ) was an obstacle used in first two VIKING tournaments, located at Final VIKING. However, due to the dominance of Second Adventure Stage in VIKING 1, it wasn't attempted until VIKING 2.

It was a simple 23-metre rope placed horizontally across the sky. Competitors had to traverse the first 13 metres using their hands only (with the distance marked by a flag), before being allowed to use their feet for the remaining 10 metres. This rule contributed to making the obstacle an intensive strength-drainer, as it would exhaust competitors before they attempt Vertical Rope, making it harder to climb.

There was only one attempt on this obstacle by Nagano Makoto. He took about 39.5 seconds to clear the entire length of the rope, but would quickly gas out on Vertical Rope afterwards. It was removed due to Final VIKING being changed in VIKING 3. Later on, the concept of traversing a horizontally-placed rope would return in form of Cross Rope in VIKING 4's Third Fantasy Stage.
