The Heavenly Ladder (ヘブンリーラダー) is an obstacle, firstly introduced as the first obstacle of the Final Stage of SASUKE 18, replacing the Spider Climb. Competitors must climb up a ladder, 13 meters in height, to reach the next obstacle, the 10-meter G-Rope.

While the obstacle was similar in function to the Shinobi Hashigo from KUNOICHI, aside from being higher and was meant to replace the Spider Climb, it was ironically easier for the competitors to climb due to how the obstacle had a large amount of slack to stabilize itself, as opposed to the KUNOICHI version, which tended to sway and shake quite a bit, forcing competitors to either stall on their climb or do it from the side.

Because of the difficulty of the Third Stage due to the course redesign after Nagano Makoto's kanzenseiha in SASUKE 17, the obstacle was not attempted until SASUKE 22. After Urushihara Yuuji's kanzenseiha in SASUKE 24, both the Heavenly Ladder and G-Rope were replaced with the 20-meter Tsuna Nobori (referred as the Ultimate Rope Climb).

Metal Ladder, circa SASUKE 21

Prior to the version that debuted in SASUKE 22, it was believed that the obstacle was made from metal due to photos circulating around the broadcasts of SASUKE 20 and SASUKE 21. It is unknown as to what sparked the change.
