ANW5 Hang Slider

American Ninja Warrior 5's Hang Slider in Stage Two

The Hang Slider is an obstacle, firstly introduced as the first obstacle in Stage Two on American Ninja Warrior 5, replacing the Slider Drop from the previous season.

Competitors had to grab onto a pair of handles. Then, competitors would take their legs off the starting platform, and the handles would start sliding down the track. Finally, competitors must time their release from the handles, and dropped to the landing platform, as an intermediary to the next obstacle (the Double Salmon Ladder).

The Hang Slider was proven to be extremely easy, as no competitor failed on this obstacle (or even showed struggle while attempting it), Therefore, it was replaced by more difficult Rope Jungle on the next season.

A similar version of this obstacle (called as the Hang Glider) would later appear as the second obstacle on American Ninja Warrior 9 in Kansas City.

Other Appearances[]

Ninja Warrior Sweden[]

Ninja Warrior Sweden's Hang Slider

On Ninja Warrior Sweden, the Hang Slider appeared as the second obstacle in the Heats. However, unlike in American Ninja Warrior, both handles were attached to a chain on each handle instead of being directly attached to the mechanism, similar to the Psycho Chainsaw. The mechanism was attached to a zipline. There is also a stopper three-quarters of the way down. Competitors must carefully time their release to the landing platform.

A similar obstacle, Double Rope Glider also appeared as the second obstacle in Semifinals.

Ninja Warrior Turkey[]

Australian Ninja Warrior's Bom Slider

A variation of the Hang Slider, called as the Bom Slider, appeared as the second obstacle in Heat 3 on Australian Ninja Warrior.

In this version, competitors must grab a pair of cylindrical-shaped handles, riding down a zip-line track with a sudden stop before the end of the track, then time their release to make the dismount to the landing platform.

The Bom Slider was proven to be brutal, as several competitors could not time their release to the landing platform properly, due to the sudden stop before the end of the track. In the end, the obstacle eliminated 22 competitors among the 50 competitors who competed in Heat 3, which was the highest number of competitors eliminated by one obstacle during qualifying heat.
