ANW9 Hang Glider

American Ninja Warrior 9's Hang Glider in Kansas City

The Hang Glider is an obstacle, firstly introduced as the second obstacle on American Ninja Warrior 9 in Kansas City.

Competitors have to grab onto two hanging handles, which were connected to a ring in the track (the track was similar to the one used on the Cannonball Drop). Then, competitors would take their legs off the starting platform and the handles would start sliding down the 20-ft track with two drops. Finally, they must grab a suspended pole and swing it to reach the landing platform.

During Kansas City qualifiers, the obstacle took out 13 competitors, including Kevin Cranmer. However, no competitor failed on this obstacle during Kansas City finals.

The Hang Glider had a similar function to the Hang Slider, which was used as the first obstacle in Stage Two on American Ninja Warrior 5. However, unlike the Hang Slider (where the obstacle didn't eliminate any competitor who attempted it), the Hang Glider eliminated several competitors during American Ninja Warrior 9's Kansas City qualifiers.
