Greg Schwartz is a writer and American Ninja Warrior competitor from Framingham, Massachusetts. He is perhaps best known for persistently competing as a walk-on competitor. He has currently walked on six times in his career, having successfully competed four times.
He is also the MC for World Ninja League Championships held in Greensboro, North Carolina.
American Ninja Warrior 5[]
His first walk-on journey occurred in American Ninja Warrior 5, where he attempted to walk-on in Baltimore, but like many, did not get a chance to run due to rain delays. He was selected as #18 in the line.
However, he still persisted, and eventually got a chance to do so in the Miami regional. His run was digested, but he failed the Monkey Peg.
He did get a call for American Ninja Warrior 6, but he could not compete because he ruptured his Achilles tendon three weeks prior to filming. He did walk-on for American Ninja Warrior 7 in Orlando, but got a leg injury while on the walk-on line.
American Ninja Warrior 8[]
He competed in American Ninja Warrior 8 in Atlanta, as a walk-on again. His qualifying run was cut, but he failed the Spin Cycle.
American Ninja Warrior 9[]
He returned as a walk-on for American Ninja Warrior 9 in Daytona Beach. His run was once again cut from broadcast, but he fell on the Wingnuts.
He attempted to walk-on for American Ninja Warrior 10 in Miami and Minneapolis, but was unfortunately not selected.
American Ninja Warrior 11[]
He once again walked on this season. After not being selected last season, he was shown on broadcast emotionally happy to receive #6 (as shown in the infobox above) in the walk-on line in Los Angeles.
His run was extremely short-lived, however, as he went out on the second obstacle, Walk the Plank.
He documented his walk-on journey on American Ninja Warrior Nation, which can be shown here.
SASUKE Vietnam 2[]
Schwartz also got an invite to participate in SASUKE Vietnam 2 in 2016. Although he cleared Stage 1 with ease, he was disqualified on the second obstacle, the Log Grip.
SASUKE Vietnam 4[]
Greg competed once again for the second time in SASUKE Vietnam 4. This time, he completed the Stage One and he later finished Stage Two as well, (marking the first time that he moved onto the next round).
On Stage 3, he went out on the first obstacle, the Pole Maze, when he wasn’t able to get a good dismount.
SASUKE Vietnam 5[]
Greg made his return for the third time to compete during SASUKE Vietnam 5, he once again cleared Stage 1B with 51.56 seconds left. However, his grip ran out on the Rope Swing, ending his Stage 2 run.
Trivia[]
- He personally considers the Spin Cycle (an obstacle he faced in Atlanta in American Ninja Warrior 8) to be one of his favorite obstacles on American Ninja Warrior, reasoning its "fairness" to all competitors.
- His main rule for entering in the walk-on line is "Don't talk about the walk on line".
