George Mariș was a Romanian Geology & Geophysics student, freelancer and a climbing gym route setter who participated in Ninja Warrior Romania. In Ninja Warrior Romania's first and only season, Mariș was the most notable competitor due to his amazing performances throughout the entire season. In the season, he achieved the top clear time of his Semifinal episode, and then not only went on to become one of only five people to clear the seasons First Stage, but he also went on to produce the best result of the entire season, failing the second to last obstacle of the Second Stage (the Unstable Bridge), but becoming the first and only ever Last Man Standing of Ninja Warrior Romania.

On October 28, 2020 (exactly two years after the last episode of Ninja Warrior Romania aired), George Mariș died in a tragic speed-flying accident at Caraiman Peak in Romania. While the exact cause of his accident is unknown, it is known from his death report that the accident occurred in the morning hours of that day. Mariș sadly passed away at the age of just 32.
