Gabe Hurtado is a shoe salesman from Fresno, California who has competed in three seasons of American Ninja Warrior.
Hurtado had a notable backstory during December 2015, in which a tragic accident burned his house down.
American Ninja Warrior 8[]
Gabe competed in Los Angeles and finished the qualifying course. In the finals, he became one of many to fail The Wedge, but his time was fast enough to qualify for Vegas, landing in 8th place. In Las Vegas, his run was cut, but he failed the Flying Squirrel, the last obstacle of Stage One.
American Ninja Warrior 9[]
In American Ninja Warrior 9, Gabe competed in Los Angeles again, where he had completed the qualifying course with and placed 9th. In the finals, Hurtado was the first person to complete the Stair Hopper, but unfortunately ran out of strength at the Elevator Climb. He still qualified for Vegas in 6th place. On Stage One, Gabe was the first runner of the night, and was the first athlete to fail the deadly Double Dipper.
American Ninja Warrior 10[]
In American Ninja Warrior 10 he once again competed in the Los Angeles region for the third straight year. He run in qualifying was digested, but he was one of many who failed the new Doorknob Drop. His time however was still fast enough to be in the top 30, as his placed 26th. In the City Finals, Gabe’s run was digested but he shockingly failed the Salmon Ladder on the first jump detailing the bar which ended his season, not moving onto Vegas. This was an obstacle he had cleared easily the past two seasons and also marked the first time that he didn’t hit a buzzer.
He has not competed since.
