Free Climbing (フリークライミング) was the next-to-last First Stage obstacle for the first two competitions. It was essentially a rock wall, but the wall itself was a conveyor that moved downward and was slightly on an angle.
Several competitors took nearly half of their overall First Stage time trying to clear this obstacle.
It was immediately followed by the Kabe Nobori, which essentially had the same function but was not on a conveyor.
English broadcasts refer to both of these obstacles as the Subduction Zone in SASUKE 1 and the Mountain Climb in SASUKE 2.
