Free Climbing (フリークライミング), called together with Kabe Nobori as Subduction Zone (SASUKE 1)/Mountain Climb (SASUKE 2) in English broadcasts, was the seventh First Stage obstacle for the first two SASUKE tournaments. It was essentially a rock wall, but the wall itself was a conveyor that moved downward and was slightly on an angle.
Several competitors took nearly half of their overall First Stage time limit trying to clear this obstacle. Most of them would even stop at the start of the obstacle, observing the movement of the rocks, before they begin their attempt on the obstacle. It was also immediately followed by Kabe Nobori, which essentially had the same function but instead of a conveyor, it was a rigid wall, making competitors have to timed their transition well.
Despite the mentioned struggles, this obstacle still had a high clear rate, probably the reason it was replaced by Tarzan Jump in SASUKE 3, which in combination with Rope Climb that was introduced in the same tournament made the ending of First Stage become harder.
