Fred Thorne is a High School Football Coach from Lincoln, Nebraska. Fred is the former husband of Maggi Thorne, and former father of three children.
Fred competed in Indianapolis in American Ninja Warrior 8. In Qualifying, he had a huge stumble on the Warped Wall, taking three attempts to clear it, but was ultimately able to clear it. He finished the course placing 24th overall, having the slowest finish. His run in the city finals was digested, but it was shown that he failed the Swinging Spikes, despite clearing the obstacle in qualifying.
In the same year, Fred and Maggi have also participated in Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge, along with other ninja competitors like Kevin Bull and Grant McCartney.
Sadly enough, it was revealed prior to American Ninja Warrior 9 that Fred has been through a divorce with Maggi. The divorce proved to be a tough challenge for Maggi, but it served as her main source of motivation for competing in ANW 9. She ended up having her best season, even topping Fred's overall performance on ANW 8 by competing in Vegas. Fred, on the other hand, did not compete that year and hasn't returned to the show since.
