ANW5 Floating Stairs

American Ninja Warrior 5's Floating Steps in Denver

The Floating Steps is an obstacle, firstly introduced as the eighth obstacle on American Ninja Warrior 5 during Denver finals.

It consisted of 13 planks, and was divided into 3 sections. The first section was angled upward with three planks, the second section was angled downward with six planks, and the third section was angled upward with four planks.

Competitors must across the planks, with a similar fashion to the Devil Steps, but instead of grabbing on one side of the steps, competitors must grab on the left and right side of the steps.

During Denver finals, the obstacle had taken out several top competitors (e.g. Jake Smith and Lorin Ball). Only 9 out of 28 competitors who attempted the obstacle, could complete it.

ANW6 Floating Steps

American Ninja Warrior 6's Floating Steps in Miami

The Floating Steps returned on American Ninja Warrior 6, as the ninth obstacle during Miami finals, meaning there was a resting platform between the previous obstacle (the Minefield) and the obstacle itself. Once again, the obstacle consisted of 13 planks, and was divided into 3 sections. However, the number of planks in each section was modified, with the first section was angled upward with five planks, the second section was angled downward with four planks, and the third section was angled upward with four planks.

Unlike during Denver finals, the obstacle only took out one competitor (Luciano Acuna Jr.) out of 11 competitors who attempted it.
