In his rookie attempt, Dillon competed in the first qualifier round. There, he made good work of the first four obstacles. Though his run crashed on the fifth obstacle, Jawbreakers, he put up a respectable run placing 10th, thus advancing to the semifinals.
Dillon later raced against Grant Kiningham during the second semifinals episode. The race was digested, but Dillon lost after falling on Hopscotch while Grant cleared the course, ending his rookie season.
