David Yarter is a gym owner who first competed in Houston in American Ninja Warrior 7. Yarter owns a gym named "Power Park Fitness", located in Spring Branch, Texas.

American Ninja Warrior 7[]
In American Ninja Warrior 7, David competed alongside his father, Vance. His run in qualifying was digested but is was shown that he failed the Swinging Spikes. David ultimately placed 29th and advanced to the city finals. Because his father, Vance, placed 24th and also made the top 30, they became the first father and son duo to advance to the city finals together.
In the city finals, he got his revenge on the Swinging Spikes and made it all the way to the Walking Bar before failing, in which he placed 9th. In the national finals, David cut it close finishing Stage 1 with 00:00:52 seconds left. His run on Stage 2 was digested but it was shown that he failed the third obstacle, the Unstable Bridge.
American Ninja Warrior 8[]
It was confirmed by Yarter that he and his father Vance had competed again in American Ninja Warrior 8 at Oklahoma City. Neither of their runs was shown, but David revealed that he had an unexpected fall on the Log Runner.
American Ninja Warrior 9[]
David returned to compete in San Antonio in American Ninja Warrior 9. His run was digested in qualifying but it was shown that he failed the Pipe Fitter, David placed 19th and moved on to the city finals. His run in the city finals was cut. Although ANWNation's sources claimed Yarter failed the Sky Hooks, when Yarter was asked himself for his result he stated he failed the Hourglass Drop. Either way, he had missed Vegas.
Yarter's older brother, Daniel, had also competed in San Antonio as well. However, Daniel didn't qualify for the city finals.

In Team Ninja Warrior 2, Yarter was part of Thomas Stillings' team, The Wings. Their team lost against Travis Rosen's team, Team TNT, in the relay showdown, when Yarter fell on the Globe Grasp. Yarter was formerly part of Thomas Stillings' team in TNW 2. In American Ninja Warrior: Ninja vs. Ninja, he became part of Brent Steffensen's team, Team Alpha. Their team lost against The Ballers in the relay showdown.
