Cart Catch (カートキャッチ) was the third, and later seventh, obstacle of the original single-stage version of KUNOICHI, which aired as an event on Kinniku Banzuke.
The obstacle's concept revolved around competitors having to press a button that would release a shopping cart that would proceed to roll down a long, inclined slope that they would have to grab and stop from rolling into a water pit, which was shared with the succeeding Square Bridge, as well as prevent themselves from falling into the water with the cart. To increase the difficulty, the flat top of the slope was rectangular in shape and the button at the start, thus maximizing the initial distance between the competitors and the cart to make it harder for them to catch up to it.
It was one of the few obstacles to go unmodified in the next tournament, but had now been placed in the second half of the course post-Break Zone as the seventh obstacle, with the course configuration changed so that competitors would still fall into the same water pit that the Square Bridge used.
Despite being in place for two tournaments, only three competitors managed to take on the obstacle, with only Yusa Masami, who was the first competitor to attempt it, failing it in the 1999 competition. Unfortunately, as no-one made it past the Rolling Panic in KUNOICHI 2000 post-position change, the obstacle went unattempted in that tournament and would be deleted in KUNOICHI 2001 due to the multi-stage format change.
