The Burasagari Maruta (ぶら下がり丸太) was a First Stage obstacle in the first two SASUKE tournaments.

It was a log, 30 cm in diameter and 3.6 meters long, in which a competitor must cross like a balance beam. The log spun on an axis. Competitor could either walk/run across the log or use hands and feet to help crossing the log (which was a safer but slower approach). It was retired in favor of the Rolling Maruta, which remained in the First Stage until Nagano Makoto's kanzenseiha in SASUKE 17.

A similar version of the Burasagari Maruta was used from KUNOICHI 3 to KUNOICHI 5 and KUNOICHI 7, except the log was not on a high platform, and was called as the Kaiten Tsutsu. The design of the Kaiten Tsutsu would later be used for the Spinning Log on several SASUKE/Ninja Warrior's international formats. Later, a similar version returned in KUNOICHI 9, where it was called as the Pipe Hold, except competitors cannot stand on top of the log. A similar obstacle was also used as the second obstacle of SASUKE 17 Trials' finals, known there as the Ipponbashi.

The Burasagari Maruta (called as the Spinning Log) appeared as the third obstacle on:

• American Ninja Warrior 1 (called as the Barrel Roll/Rolling Barrel, with a much bigger log),
• American Ninja Warrior 4 in Southwest and Northwest regions,
• American Ninja Warrior 6 in Denver, and
• American Ninja Warrior 7 in Houston.

However, on American Ninja Warrior 6 and American Ninja Warrior 7, competitors could not use their hands (competitors must walk/run across the log, i.e. touching the log with hands would result in disqualification).

During American Ninja Warrior 6's Denver finals, the obstacle was modified by adding a square barrier at the middle of the log. Eventually, this version of the Spinning Log returned on American Ninja Warrior 7, except the barrier's shape was changed to circular.

Later, a modified version of this obstacle (called as the Broken Pipes) appeared as the third obstacle on American Ninja Warrior 9 in Kansas City.

The Spinning Log appeared as the third obstacle in Heat 3, Heat 5, and the semi-finals on Ninja Warrior UK 2, and then during the semi-finals on Ninja Warrior UK 3. On Ninja Warrior UK 4, the obstacle was moved to the eighth obstacle, once again during the semi-finals.

On Australian Ninja Warrior, the Spinning Log appeared as the third obstacle during the semi-finals, and then in Stage One (which was similar to the obstacle used during American Ninja Warrior 7's Houston course, called as the Spinning Log with Donut).

Then, on Australian Ninja Warrior 3, the Spinning Log appeared as the third obstacle in Stage One.

SASUKE Ninja Warrior Indonesia

SASUKE Ninja Warrior Indonesia 2017's Spinning Log in Semifinal Stage 1

On SASUKE Ninja Warrior Indonesia 2017, the Spinning Log appeared as the second obstacle during Semifinal Stage 1. However, unlike on American Ninja Warrior, Ninja Warrior UK, Australian Ninja Warrior, and SASUKE Vietnam, the log was made thicker. As the result, it was proven to be an extremely easy, as no competitor failed on this obstacle.

During SASUKE Ninja Warrior Indonesia: International Competition, the log was made thinner and more swinging when the competitors attempted the obstacle. Despite that, no competitor failed on this obstacle once again.

SASUKE Vietnam

SASUKE Vietnam 4's Spinning Log

From SASUKE Vietnam 4 to SASUKE Vietnam 5, the Spinning Log (called locally as Cầu Quay) appeared as the third obstacle in Stage 1A, replacing the Goren Hammer from past two SASUKE Vietnam seasons.

The obstacle had a similar specification to the Spinning Log used in Houston course on American Ninja Warrior 7, except the landing platform was made bigger, and the circular was place on left log instead place on center log.

On the debut season, 6 competitors failed on this obstacle, including and the most shockingly, Takaharu Nakagawa. However, only Nguyễn Đức Hoàn failed on it on the next season.
