Brain Ship Stage
The Brain Ship Stage was the second out of five stages in Individual VIKING's first two competitions. It was designed to further weed out competitors before the Second Adventure Stage, taking place on a floating barge in the Tokyo Bay waters that competitors would be taken to via boat. It only saw usage in VIKING 2 as bad weather at sea prevented the Stage from being used in VIKING 1.
In the Brain Ship Stage, competitors must draw lots to determine teams of four, based on the number of competitors who cleared the First Marine Stage (the others getting free passes to the Second Adventure Stage). From these teams of four, competitors must memorize seven numbers that are shown for five seconds in separate rounds and write the memorized numbers on a sheet of paper. The person with the most mistakes is eliminated. If there is a tie, the competitors will do an Extra Round (this time with nine numbers that are shown for seven seconds) and the loser of that tiebreaker round is eliminated. The concept was derived from Brain Panic, an event in Kinniku Banzuke.
The Brain Ship Stage was ultimately deleted in VIKING 3 and never saw usage in any other tournaments afterwards.
