Australian Ninja Warrior 6's Anaconda

The Anaconda is an obstacle firstly introduced as the fourth obstacle in Heat 1 of Australian Ninja Warrior 6 and later appeared in all of the heats. The name references a type of snake, and the obstacle is proportionized to look like one; drawing similarities to Dragonback on its American counterpart.

The obstacle involves 27 doorknobs and three lache bars (three meters apart from one another) that are all placed on three different boards that when combined together is shaped like an anaconda. The distance between the last lache bar and the dismount pad is revealed to be 3.5 meters.

Competitors must use their upper-body to traverse the doorknobs or do a transition to the lache bars, until they were close enough to make the dismount to the landing platform. They could use any or all of the lache bars when attempting the obstacle.

During Heat 1, this obstacle proved to be brutal, eliminating seven out of sixteen the contestants that attempted it, including Luke Schmitzer, Eloni Vunakece, Jack Hodgson, Josiah Savonoff, Kobe Teede, Troy Sitkowski, and Robert Ciccarelli. Interestingly, contestants heavily favoured the doorknobs over the lache bars, and most of the competitors who completed the obstacle used the lache bars, excluding Kahil Evans and Saxon Johnstone.

In Heat 2, it continued showing the brutality, eliminating eight out of sixteen competitors that attempted it, including Skye Haddy, Jason Mitchell, Aiden Princena-White, Paul Culloty, Josh De-Roo, Jimmy Burrow, Jordan Papandrea and Leium De-Roo.

In Heat 3, the obstacle fared a better result as twelve competitors were able to complete it. And while in Heats 1 and 2, all of the competitors who reached this obstacle advanced to the semifinals (in each instance, sixteen competitors were able to reach the obstacle out of the top 18 competitors advancing to the semifinals), in Heat 3, it became the cut-off for advancing to the semifinals.

Ninja Israel 5's Anaconda

In Ninja Warrior Israel 5, the Anaconda, literally translated ื”ืื ืงื•ื ื“ื”, appeared as the fifth obstacle in Heat 4 and Heat 10. However, the obstacle has been modified compared to Australian Ninja Warrior 6, in which the number of sections and lache bars was reduced to 2, thus reducing the number of bars and doorknobs, so that each doorknob was located at a greater distance from each other.

But just like Australian Ninja Warrior 6, the obstacle was very brutal, and also served as the cut-off. In Heat 4, the obstacle eliminated 5 out of 10 competitors who attempted it, including Idan Rozental (who got disqualified for touching the frame), and Ofir Yakovovich, who later advanced to the Repechage Heat. The obstacle also extremely brutal for women competitors, in which the obstacle eliminated 6 out of 11 women competitors in Heat 10 who attempted it, including Ella Menashe, who later advanced to the Repechage Heat, and Adama Even, who later advanced to the Semifinals.

Trivia[]

  • The obstacle is one of the few instances that are known to be created by an international show itself and is not based on obstacle replicas from other competitions such as American Ninja Warrior, SASUKE, and KUNOICHI.
  • This obstacle, along with the Candy Cane Rush, marks the second time that two brand new original obstacles appear in the same season of any SASUKE/Ninja Warrior international formats (the first were the Handle Slider and Skittle Slider in Ninja Warrior Israel 2).
