Reception[]
American Ninja Warrior Challenge was not well-received by critics, due to various reasons. Jordan Hawes, of Waytoomany. games stated in his review "There are some game releases that make you wonder, “what exactly were they thinking and who green lit this idea?” American Ninja Warrior: Challenge is exactly one of these games. It sits somewhere between a bad movie tie-in and an asset flip Steam game you can find for $.49." Many did not like the lack of fleshed-out gameplay, as much of the game is based on quick time event prompts, as well as stat & stamina building. Similar issues applied to the character customization, with the inability to name your character, and being forced to retire after the fifth season. Not to mention, the severe lack of quantity or quality with the obstacles, most of which are unanimated and rife with boredom. The physics was also considered abhorrent due to this lack of proper animation. Other issues included the visuals, sound design (and alongside that, Matt & Akbar's dialogue), and barebones multiplayer.
