Alexander "Alex" Wurm is a German sports climber, route setter, psychology student and also a musician who participated in the regular Ninja Warrior Germany Seasons 1-6 & 8, Team Ninja Warrior Germany 1 & 2, Ninja Warrior Germany: Four Nations Special 1 & 2, as a part of Team Germany, and Ninja Warrior Germany All-Stars. In all the different competitions of Ninja Warrior Germany, Alexander Wurm is always considered as a force to be reckoned with, as he has shown extraordinary athletic skills, efficiency and potential many times. And for quite a long time, he was even considered as the greatest competitor of the show, since he not only achieved three consecutive 1st place finishes (Last Man Standing titles), namely from Seasons 3-5 (Wurm is one of only five people to have achieved this feat at least once in the history of regular National/International Ninja Warrior/SASUKE shows, with the others being Nagano Makoto, Morimoto Yūsuke, Jean Tezenas du Montcel, and Miyake Ayako), but he also reached the Final Stage (Mount Midoriyama) in Ninja Warrior Germany Season 3, making him the first ever German Ninja Warrior Finalist in history.

Ninja Warrior Germany[]

Ninja Warrior Germany 1[]

In 2016, Alexander Wurm participated in the very first season of Ninja Warrior Germany. He first participated in the fourth Preliminary Round and cleared the course with a time of 03:41.80, finishing fifth in his Preliminary Round. He then participated in the fourth Finals Qualifications. There, he cleared the course with a time of 01:23.30, finishing sixth in this Finals Qualifications. On Stage One of the Finals, he failed on the Jumping Spider, placing 10th overall.

Ninja Warrior Germany 2[]

In 2017, Alexander Wurm participated in the second season of Ninja Warrior Germany. He participated in the second Preliminary Round and cleared the course with a time of 02:42.20, finishing second in his Preliminary Round. He then participated in the second Semi-finals Qualifications. There, he cleared the course with a time of 02:22.30, finishing first. In the Semi-finals, Alexander cleared the course with a time of 03:49.70, finishing 13th in the Semi-finals of this season. On Stage One of the Finals, he failed on the second obstacle, the Propeller Bar, placing 23rd overall and this was his worst result in Ninja Warrior Germany.

Ninja Warrior Germany 3[]

In 2018, Alexander Wurm participated in the third season of Ninja Warrior Germany. He participated in the seventh Preliminary Round and cleared the course with a time of 02:25.81, finishing third in his Preliminary Round.

He then participated in the seventh Semi-finals Qualifications. There, he claered the course with a time of 01:17.24, finishing fifth.

In the Semi-finals, Alexander cleared the course with a time of 04:45.33, finishing eight in the Semi-finals of this season.

In the Finals, he cleared Stage One for the first time in his career, advancing to Stage Two.

There, he had trouble on the Wall Flip, the final obstacle of the Stage. But he still cleared the stage with 00:02.00 remaining on the clock, advancing to Stage Three.

On Stage Three, he easily cleared the Curved Body Prop and the Floating Boards. He then took on the Cliffhanger. He cleared the Cliffhanger, becoming the third ninja (after Kim Marschner and Moritz Hans) to do so. After that, he took on the Flying Bar. And unlike Kim Marschner and Moritz Hans, who both failed on this obstacle, Alexander Wurm amazingly cleared the Flying Bar, becoming the first to clear the Flying Bar in Ninja Warrior Germany history and also becoming the first ninja to clear Stage Three in Ninja Warrior Germany. He then took on the Final Stage (Mount Midoriyama). He started out fast on the first half of the tower, but began to slow down once he reached the second half. In the end, Alexander Wurm timed out 3 seconds away from achieving Total Victory. But since he became the Last Man Standing of the entire season, Alexander Wurm still recieved a cash prize of 25.000€.

Ninja Warrior Germany 4[]

In 2019, Alexander Wurm participated in the fourth season of Ninja Warrior Germany. This time, he participated in the first Preliminary Round, in which he tried to clear the newly added Mega Wall, but failed to do so. In the end, he still cleared the course with a time of 04:03.08, finishing eleventh in his Preliminary Round. He then participated in the first Semi-Final Qualifiacations. There, he cleared the course with a time of 03:17.74, finishing third. In the Semi-finals, Alexander Wurm cleared the course with a time of 05:15.99, not only finishing second in the Semi-Final of this season, but also being one of only four participants to clear the Semi-Final course of this season. In the Finals, Alexander Wurm cleared Stage One for the second time in a row, proving that his previous performance was not just a fluke. On Stage Two, he advanced at a relatively fast pace, reaching the finish button with over 15 seconds remaining on the clock, but waited about 10 seconds before actually hitting the finish button to have an extended rest before attempting Stage Three. On Stage Three, he once again cleared the Floating Boards and the Curved Body Prop with an relative ease. After that he took on the modified version of the Cliffhanger, now having two jump transitions instead of only one. But despite this modification, Alexander Wurm cleared the Cliffhanger, becoming the second participant (after Moritz Hans) to do so, without having problems. Without having a pause, he then took on the next obstacle, the Peg Cloud. He then cleared the Peg Cloud, also using a climbing technique which is called "Figure of Four" to take short rests while being on the obstacle. He then took on the Flying Bar, the final obstacle of the Stage, once again. But this time unfortunately, Alexander Wurm failed the Flying Bar, undershooting the 3rd cradle. This performance however was good enough to grant Alexander Wurm the Last Man Standing title and a cash prize of 25,000€ for the second time in a row.

Ninja Warrior Germany 5[]

In 2020, Alexander Wurm participated in the fifth season of Ninja Warrior Germany. He participated in the first Preliminary Round once again and cleared the course with a time of 03:24.14, finishing second in his Preliminary Round and also advancing to the, newly added Power Tower. On the Power Tower, Alexander Wurm had to compete in a head-to-head race against Lukas Kilian and lost the race, missing out on receiving the Speed Pass, which would have granted him an automatic advance to the Finals. He then participated in the first Semi-finals. There, he cleared the course with a time of 06:44.18, finishing tenth in the first Semi-Finals. In the Finals, Alexander Wurm cleared Stage One for the third time in a row, doing so with 00:29.00 seconds remaining on the clock. On Stage Two of this season, he advanced at a rather slow pace, clearing the Stage with 00:04.20 seconds remaining on the clock. On Stage Three, he once again cleared the Floating Boards easily, and also advancing at a very efficient pace. He then took on the newly added Cane Lane and cleared it, becoming the fourth participant (after Giovanni Ertl, Rene Casselly and Kim Marschner), to do so. After that, he took on the new version of the Cliffhanger (the Cliffhanger 3.0, or Die Fingerleisten 3.0). Despite this modification, Alexander Wurm cleared the Cliffhanger once again, clearing the jump transition of the obstacle using the unconventional jump method, facing the ledge, instead of using the conventional SASUKE method. He then took on the following obstacle, the Peg Cloud and cleared it again, despite struggling a little bit on the final box, using the "Figure of Four" climbing technique once again. Without having a rest platform, he then took on the second to last obstacle of the Stage, the newly added Time Bomb and cleared the obstacle very efficiently, also using the "Figure of Four" a few times. After that, Alexander Wurm took on the Flying Bar, final obstacle of Stage, for a third time in a row. But despite all the hopes, Alexander Wurm unfortunately failed the Flying Bar once again, this time failing the landing on the fourth and final cradle. But, this performance was once again good enough to grant Alexander Wurm the Last Man Standing title and a cash prize of 25,000 € for a third incredible time in a row.

Ninja Warrior Germany 6[]

In 2021, Alexander participated in the sixth season of Ninja Warrior Germany. This time, he participated in the first Preliminary Round once again and also tried to attempt the Mega Wall again and actually cleared it this time, unlike in Ninja Warrior Germany 4 in which he did not clear it, and won a cash prize of 2,000 €. He cleared the entire Preliminary course with a time of 03:03.16, finishing fourth in his Preliminary Round and also advancing to the Power Tower once again. In the first race of the Power Tower, Alexander Wrum had to compete in a head-to-head race against Rene Kaselowsky and actually won the race, receiving a 5,000 € cash prize and also advancing to the final race of the Power Tower. There, he had to compete against the winner of the other race, which was Jun Kim, and impressively won that race as well, receiving the Speed Pass, which granted him an automatic advance to the Finals. But despite the fact that Alexander Wurm had already qualified for the Finals by winning the Speed Pass, he still participated in the Semi-finals and cleared the Semi-finals course, finishing fourth in the Semi-finals and also being the only Speed Pass winner of this season to actually clear the Semi-finals course. On Stage One of the Finals, Alexander Wurm adavanced through the first half of the stage at a rather slow pace, but began advance at a faster pace in the second half of the stage and cleared Stage One for the fourth time in a row, doing so with 00:21.01 seconds remaining on the clock. On Stage Two of this season, he once again advanced at a rather cautious pace, clearing Stage Two with 00:07.93 seconds remaining on the clock, advancing to Stage Three for his foruth time in a row. On Stage Three, Alexander once again cleared the Floating Boards without a problem. After that, he took on the second obstacle of the stage, the Cane Lane. On this obstacle, Alexander Wurm cleared the first transition of the Cane Lane without a problem, but shortly before he attempted the second transition, he accidentely slipped a little bit backwards, resulting in him not getting enough height to land on the second track, causing him to fall into the water and fail the obstacle, shocking everybody, since he not only failed earlier than a lot of people expected, but also achieved a result that, for the first time since Ninja Warrior Germany 2, was not good enough to grant him the Last Man Standing, losing his infamous streak of first place finishes in Ninja Warrior Germany. But his performance was, nonethenless, good enough to achieve the 7th place overall.

Ninja Warrior Germany 7[]

A few days before the premiere of the seventh season of Ninja Warrior Germany, it was announced that Alexander Wurm did not participate in the seventh season of Ninja Warrior Germany. The reason for this decision, which he mentioned in the post-run interview after his Preliminary Round run in Ninja Warrior Germany 8, was that he felt he needed to take a break from show as the very hard training and the spotlight became too exhausting for him after six straight years of competing in Ninja Warrior Germany. This would mark the first time that Alexander Wurm did not paticipate in a regular season of Ninja Warrior Germany.

Ninja Warrior Germany 8[]

In 2023, almost one year after it was announced that he did not participate in Ninja Warrior Germany 7, it was announced that Alexander Wurm returned to Ninja Warrior Germany, participating in the eighth season of Ninja Warrior Germany and marking his first performance in a Ninja Warrior Germany competition in two years, ready to leave a huge mark on the course again. And yet again, he first participated in the first Preliminary Round, with him being the final athlete of that Preliminary Round, and would clear most of the new and old obstacles of that Preliminary Round (including the Rollercoaster, the Spin Zone and the modified Swing Arm) slowly, surely and also quite efficiently, with him only struggling on the third obstacle of that course, the Carnival. Following all of that, Alexander Wurm reached the final obstacle (the Warped Wall / Mega Wall) and firstly tried to attempt the Mega Wall (which he cleared in Ninja Warrior Germany 6) once again. However unlike in Ninja Warrior Germany 6, in which he cleared the obstacle, he failed to complete the Mega Wall, with Wurm not really getting close to the top. After that attempt and after taking a short breather, Alexander Wurm would clear the Warped Wall easily, press the button and would clear the entire course at the end of the day, doing so with a time of 03:42.59, finishing 10th in his Preliminary Round, which meant that he would advance to the Semi-finals of the season.

In the second episode of the Semi-finals he made it all the way to the fifth obstacle, Flipped Around but shockingly failed it (marking it in the first time he failed a Semi-Finals course) but moved on in 12th place.

After that, Wurm returned for the very difficult First Stage, and was expected to follow Philipp Göthert into the Second Stage. With his time slowly starting to run out, Wurm also became one of the Pole Grasper's victims, as he also failed the laché from the first to the second set of poles, producing one of the biggest shocks of the season, and making it the first time since Ninja Warrior Germany 2 that he failed Stage One.

Trivia[]
